nce upon a time there lived a monkey who was horrible. She threw twigs and leaves at the lion cubs who lived below her tree. She was always playing tricks on the young lions. It went on a long time.Then, one day, a big lion came along. He saw what was going on with the lion cubs. He was the only one who knew the truth. So he decided to play a trick on the monkey. He made a mask for his face that looked like a monkey's face. He rolled in some dark earth to make his coat look dark. Then he looked like a very big monkey.
He climbed up part of the real monkey's tree. He got on a different branch from the monkey, who then saw him. She climbed over near to him because she thought the lion was a friendly monkey. Then the lion threw off the mask, chased her down the tree and chased her away.
And so he saved the lion cubs.
