she's child was born in the 9th day of the 9th month which meant she would be destined for greatness. But the girl's face was hideous to even the mother's eyes.So in order to keep her reputation within the tribe, Eshe took her burden through the Great Wood and stopped before the great mountain Belai. This was where the great god Thaman stayed while on Earth. She set up an altar and laid the babe beside it. She sacrificed the best of the tribe's flock and than prayed for 9 days; asking help for her problem. Upon the dawn of the 9th day, Thaman spoke to Eshe. He told her to look in the 9th cave of Belai. As she peeked inside the cave, she saw a glowing rock. As she walked towards it she found that it was not a rock but a mask. Eshe placed it on her ugly daughter. It sunk into the babes face which glowed for a minute and than darkened. Now the babe looked like any other of the tribe. No one would be able to tell she wore a mask. Eshe returned to her village with her pretty daughter. The child was named Ammona which means the hidden. Years passed, but eventually seemed that Ammona's ugliness was returning. By the time she was 13 her face was a light blue, with green bordering the sides. she had grown orange rings around her eyes. The girl was mocked and jeered at by the tribe until she was made to leave it on account of her ugliness. Ammona fled in tears, not really caring where she was going. She found herself at the foot of Thaman's mountain. The god spoke to the dejected girl. He ordered her to go back to her village. Immediately, she was freed of her fear and she found herself marching back through the Great Wood. When she arrived at the village everyone stopped and stared and the jeering began again. But Ammona stood tall. Suddenly, a small boy cried "LOOK!" The people looked up at the sky and saw a great magnificent head rise above Ammona. It was the head of Thaman, bursting with light. Slowly Ammona rose up beside him and the tribe gasped as they saw that her face was the same as the great god's. Her mask was cast off and the people were astonished once again to see that the girl's face was the same as the mask. Now it looked beautiful, as it glowed beside Thaman. Then the god spoke. He told the people of their punishment for mocking the face of Thaman. There would be times of war and suffering soon. Finally the two amazing faces lifted up and were gone. The tribe looked around and found that they were ugly compared to Thaman and Ammona. And as the god had said they were plunged into war for 9 years and lived in poverty from then on. And Ammona's mask was passed on from generation to generation to remind the people that it doesn't matter how a person looks, they can still accomplish anything.
