nce upon a time, back in the 1800s, there lived a very poor family with one child. This child was 8 years old and went to a small school in her town. All she had for a friend was her dog, Riley.

She took Riley everywhere she went. The girl was content with what she had. Every day when she went to school she brought her dog along.

Also, everyday she was picked on because she was poor. The kids called her names and she didn't have any friends at school. Even the teachers picked on her. But with her dog by her side she was never scared or afraid.

One day a few kids came up to her and started pushing her around and picking on her. Her dog was right there beside her. She had given the dog all he could ask for so this would be the time to repay her. He tackled the other kids that were picking on her, and he showed his teeth barked and growled. The boys ran off in fear.

From that day on no one ever picked on her when she was around, she even made a few friends! The moral of this story is: Good friends always stay by your side.
