"After School"

Y
ou stare at the clock; its hands moving slowly,

"I'll never get out," you begin to worry,
Come on, come on, just one minute more,
You're all tensed up, you're already at the door.

You look at your watch; when suddenly.....BRIIIING!!!
You roar with joy; as the final bell starts to ring,
You rush down the stairs; you nearly stumble and fall,
Not looking where you're going, you crash into the wall.

You head to the lockers; where a big crowd is forming,
You struggle with your locker; which as usual isn't budging,
You finally open the door with a superhuman effort,
Your books tumble onto your head...Gee, did that hurt?

You run to your bus; you try to get a seat,
You nearly choke in there; because of the stifling heat,
The bus driver drives so fast; he thinks he's a racer,
You hang on for dear life...WATCH OUT FOR THAT CORNER!!!

You're finally safe; you're finally home,
You step into the bath tub; full of bubbling foam,
You plonk down in front of the television,
Late into the night, you watch MetroVision.

Almost asleep, you remember what you didn't finish,
Oh,no...HOMEWORK!!! Science, History, Math and English!!
It's a mad rush for your books; you sweat as you toil,
The clock ticks on and on; as you burn the midnight oil.

You finally stumble into bed; your eyes almost closing,
Barely five minutes pass; your alarm clock starts ringing,
Your mom enters the room and shakes you awake,"Hey!
Wake up, sleepy head! It's a brand new school day!!"
