"Pearl"

O
nce upon a time there were three little girls that lived with their mother. The family was poor and had no money for food. Thus they had to grow and make their own.

Yet even though they had such a hard life the mother and eldest daughter were very vain and only thought of themselves. What ever money they did happen to get the mother and eldest daughter spent immediately on things to make themselves more beautiful. The two younger daughters , who happened to be named Pearl and Ruby , became very upset quite quickly. They were angry that their mother and sister treated them like this.

When they asked their mother why they acted so she replied ,
"So that if one day a nice man happens to stop by he will be so impressed with Jessabelle and myself that he will want to marry her. Then if we are lucky he will have lots of money and we won't be poor any more."

Pearl and Ruby had nothing to say against this so didn't say anything. They still felt , though , that they were poorly treated.

One day Pearl was at the market looking for a kind merchant to spare some food. Suddenly she saw the most handsome man she had ever seen. He looked in her direction and she pretended not to notice. Then he turned back around and spoke to the merchant next to him. Pearl began to walk away when she heard someone yell ,
"Wait!"
She turned around and saw the man running toward her.
"Wait , I saw you standing there and knew that I should speak to you." he said quickly.
"Speak to me? A poor girl?" Pearl replied , "I am just a peasant , and by the looks of your clothes you are far richer than I."
"True , but know that has no meaning. Do you believe in love at first sight?" he asked.
"I suppose I do. Why do you ask?" she responded.
"Because I do , and I believe , fair maiden , that I have found it."

Pearl could do nothing but smile. then she knew she had to ask.
"May I ask , what are you looking for in a peasants market?"
"Shopping for a gift for my father." he replied.
"And who might your father be?" she asked.
"Why , don't you know , my father is the king." he responded.
"Oh , then that makes you the prince." she gasped.
"Yes , I suppose it does , doesn't it?"

Just then , Pearls younger sister , Ruby came running up.
"Pearl , um , oh , who is this?" she asked.
"Ruby , say hello to His Majesty the Royal Prince of England." Pearl answered.
"Prince? Oh , my goodness , hello Your Majesty." Ruby stuttered.
"Hello , and who might you be?" he responded.
"I'm Ruby , Pearls little sister."
"Pearl? What a beautiful name." the prince stated.
"Well , we must be going." Pearl said.
"Wait , I know this is sudden , but I think I should like to see more of you." he blurted out.
"All right. i would like that." Pearl responded as they left.

That night at home Pearlos mother asked what took them so long. Ruby blurted out what had happened. Their mother was astonished.
"You , marry the prince? Hah , not at all. If anyone is to marry the Prince it will be Jessabelle." she said.

The next day Pearl and Ruby went to the market to meet the prince. He asked Pearl to marry him and she said yes. So the Prince , Pearl , and Ruby all lived happily ever after in the castle.

As for Jessabelle and her mother , they are still waiting for someone to come fall in love with Jessabelle.
