As I write this I am pondering in my brain, "where were the minds of my race? Where were the rights? Are we all not the same,regardless of color?" I have no words to describe the violent ways of dealing with protests. Not only arresting but fire hoses with their strong rays of water. Police dogs, specially trained to bite and scratch. To cause piercing shrieks from down on the streets. Now you may think that the Declaration of Independence would include freedom for blacks. It didn't. Same with women's voting. But that is not what the point is. The point is even though Lincoln freed the black slaves it didn't exactly mean that black people had their rights. Oh no, not yet, they had a long way to go.
