Jessica's "Emily's Wild Discovery"

In this story, is "Jacket", is "Ice Skates",
is "the Polar Bear Cub".

Emily was a little girl who lived on a farm with her parents and four other sisters and brothers. It was Christmas at this time, and everyone was excited about the coming of the holiday and the new year.

Today the family would be going out to the woods to get a Christmas tree. Emily and her family would not bring the tree to their house. Instead they would decorate it with peanut and bird seed covered pincones, popcorn and cranberry chains, and other good things that the birds and squirells, as well as other small animals would enjoy if they couldn't find food. It was a family tradition to do so. This would be Emily's 10th Christmas tree. The trees they had decorated in the past had grown into giant beauties.

As they made the hike up to their winter cabin, Emily saw a small white glint. Emily and her family lived in Northern Canada, so it was common to see Polar Bears. She told her family that she would like to rest, since her feet grew sore. Everyone decided to rest for about 20 minutes before continuing up to the cabin.

Emily followed the white ball until she caught up to it. It was a . Emily searched everywhere for a bigger Polar Bear, but not an entire creature stirred in the forest.

She grabbed a piece of celery from her pocket and tried to get the little bear to go after it. The just stared with glossy, black, sad eyes. She tried to approach it, but he made a funny whimpering noise and backed away. She decided to sit still and see if it would come. No luck.

She decided to travel back to her family. They were sitting on logs waiting for her. Everyone was well rested, so they continued. By the time the reached the cabin, the sun turned to a dusty pink color, and the cheerful chirps of the winter birds had gone back into their homes for the cold night's rest.

The rest of the family went into the cabin, but Emily stayed outside a while longer to see if the little and his mother had their den near the cabin.

She found what she was looking for, but saw that there was no mother bear in sight. She looked inside the den to see that there were only the cubs nestled together to keep warm. There were about four of them.

There was only two things that could have happened to the mother. She was either shot by hunters, or abandoned her cubs. Polar Bears weren't in season currently, so she must have abandoned them.

Emily checked the Little s for any signs of sickness or disease other than coldness and hunger. None. She scooped up two polars bears in one arm and the other two in the other. They trembled with fear at the sight of her, but cooperated. She brought them to the cabin, where the family was seated around the table eating caribou and mugs of hot cocoa. Her siblings all squealed when they saw the bears. Her mothers jaw dropped with surprise. Her father just stared.

After Emily told everyone what had happened to the Little and his brothers and sisters, her mother's heart melted and she got a large basket and sat the bears by the stove.

Over time they grew healthier and soon they were ready to be released into the wild. Rangers of the park where the bears would be released trained them for living in the wild and they tagged them with tracking devices so they could keep track of the bears' progress.

Seeing the little s survive was better than the that she hoped to get for Christmas.
