"Jessica's Diary"

M
onday 6th September:
I've never liked school and I HATE my first day back. I KNOW I won't like my teacher. My mum has been nagging at me all morning.
"First day's always the worst day." she tells me then goes through her 'Back To School Lecture'

I have butterflys in my tummy. A shiver shot up my spine. Tears stung my eyes as I tried to blink them back.
"Scardey cat!" my brother shouted.

He can be such a nusiance sometimes, well, all the time.
"Is our poor little Jessica not wanting to go to school today!" he laughed, "Poor little diddums!! Ha, ha, ha, ha!"
"Go away!" I shouted angrily.

My six year old brother can be such a jerk. I would have strangled him if my mother wasn't there.

Now I defintly don't want to go. My little brother Sam will tell all my friends I was worried about school. Then the doorbell rang.
"Jess, it's Becky. Are you ready yet?" my mothers high pitched voice echoed through our large house.
Becky is my best friend. She is small for her age and has shoulder length blonde hair pulled back tightly into a pony tail. I guess she is the opposite of me so I don't know how we became such good friends. Becky is really good at sports. I'm really hopeless.
"I'm coming mum!" I shouted.
I grabbed my bag and my lunch money. Becky and I always walk to school together. Most of our friends go to school on the bus but Becky and I live near the school and we like the walk. Sam goes on the bus after his early morning soccer practice. Becky and I arrived late at school.

Our teacher, Mrs. Smith got very angry and made us stay in at play time and help her give out the math books. The rest of the day wasn't too bad I guess but I couldn't wait till home time. Neither could Becky. I was exhausted after school and had an early night.

Tuesday 7th September:

Everything was going fine. I'd walked to school with Becky, as usual.

It all happened in the lunch hall. I found a seat next to Becky, without looking I sat on it.
"Oh!" I shrieked, the seat was wet!
Somebody had spilt their water on it! Everybody in the hall turned to stare at me. I could hear remarks like "Betsy Wetsy" and "the toilets over there." I felt so humiliated. I left my lunch and stormed out the room. I locked myself in the toilets and began to cry. I heard Becky's soft voice,
"It's okay." she said, "come out, Jessica"
I unlocked the door and walked slowy out.
"Come on. Let's go outside. Maybe you'll dry off."
We went out onto the playing field. Loads of kids came up to me.
"I'm sorry." they said, "I didn't mean to laugh."
We all made friends so I guess I didn't have such a bad day after all!

The End
