"Life As A Cricket 2"

H
i. I am Crazy Cricket. You might remember me from the last story I told you.

Well, after Spock, my tarantula friend died, I ended up in a shopping mall. I liked to go into the pet shop. But seeing the trapped animals inside made me mad. But I couldn't do anything. But I was really mad about this.

I wandered around the mall, trying to figure out a way to save the animals in the cages. I passed by Coles bookstore and a couple of toy stores. Then I thought of it.

I went into the Hallmark store and talked to the Beanie Babies that they sold there. I asked the Beanies Babies to help me. They agreed. So I took them all to the pet store and the Beanie Babies opened the cages. I saw some of my friends crawling around the floor. A whole bunch of animals ran out of the store, scaring a whole bunch of people. There were hamsters, dogs, cats, crickets, and then I saw it. A tarantula. A pinkish brown one. I ran up to her. I asked her
"Do you know Spock?"
"Yes," she replied
"We were best friends until the people separated us and brought us to different stores. "
"Oh", I said, "Well I knew her too in someone's house." I told her.
"Oh, well Hi," she said, "I'm Harriet."
"Hi," I replied, "I'm Crazy Cricket".

Harriet and I soon became good friends. But we had things to worry about. All the animals that escaped, even the Beanie Babies were being hunted down by the mall people to be put back in the stores.

We started to run. We didn't want anybody to catch us or stomp on us. Soon all of the animals, Beanie Babies and Harriet and I had a meeting in the middle of the mall. We decided to split up so it would be harder for the mall people to find us. Harriet and I ran away, and so did the other animals. But before we did, I thanked the Beanies for everything.

We ran and ran. But soon I saw someone with a suit on. I thought he must have been a mall person. So Harriet and I ran the other way. The person saw us and ran after us. I hoped he would trip or something, because of course, he has longer legs. Harriet and I turned a corner. The mall person lost us, probably because we sort of blended into the floor and we were so small. We stopped running when we noticed that he wasn't following us anymore.

We wanted to hide, so we went into Toys R Us. We saw lots of cool stuff. I wanted it, but I'm too small.

But then a man in a suit came. We tried to run, but it was too late. He picked us up. We were going to the pet store. We soon got there, but I got out of the man's grip. But Harriet didn't.

I ran after the man and he didn't see me. But then they took Harriet into a room in the back and the door closed in my face. I couldn't see in there, but I could hear. I heard Harriet scream. Then the screaming stopped. I hoped she was okay.

But then the man came back out, without Harriet. I knew what happened to her. The same thing that happened to Spock. But this time, humans did it.

I sadly walked out of the store. The rest of the animals ran by. I ran with them. We ran out of the mall. We wouldn't get caught now. I walked with the animals, crying now. I will never forget Harriet or Spock. Maybe I wasn't meant to have friends that aren't crickets.

Well, here I am now, walking with the rest of the animals, telling you this story. We are all going to separate soon and I'll be on my own.

The End
