昔、マレーシアにTahneeという女の子がいました。 Tahneeはマレーシアうまれでしたが、両親がバングラディッシュ出身だったのでバングラディッシュ人と思われていました。 Tahneeはとても頭がよくていろいろなことができる少女でした。
TahneeはJohorにある小学校に上がりました。彼女はたった一人のバングラディッシュ人で、 あとのみんなはマレー人、中国人、インド人でした。 はじめの4年間はなにごともなくすぎましたが、5年生は最悪でした。
5年生になるとすぐ、みんなは人種を理由にしてTahneeをいじめはじめました。 いじわるなことをいろいろ言われたのでTahneeは勉強が手につかなくなりました。 ベストクラスから普通クラスに移り、成績も上位3位から17位まで落ちてしまいました。
6年生になってTahneeはセコンドベストクラスに入りました。 Tahneeは自分自身に「まあこれなら大丈夫」と言いました。 でもいじめは7年生になっても続きました。7年生のときにはTahneeは マレーシアで一番の学校に入ってリーダーになりました。IQテストも高得点を得ました。 それでもみんなはTahneeがバングラディッシュ人という理由で離れています。 今でもTahneeは本当の友だちをみつけることができません。
here once was a girl named Tahnee who lived in a country known as Malaysia. Even though she was born in Malaysia, she was considered a Bangladeshi because both of her parents are from Bangladesh. She was actually a very smart girl, and was capable of many talents.
She went to a primary school in Johor. She was the only Bangladeshi there - everyone else was either Malay, Chinese or Indian. The first 4 years was ok, but she considered the 5th year the worst.
Since entering 5th Grade, everyone started teasing her about her race. They said nasty things to her so much that she couldn't concentrate on her schoolwork. She was moved from best class to average class and she went down from the top 3 to number 17.
She entered the second-best class in 6th Grade. "At least this is ok," said Tahnee to herself. But the teasings still continued to 7th Grade - where she managed to get into one of the country's best schools and became a leader. She also passed an IQ test with high marks. But still people stay away from her because she's a Bangladeshi. Till now, she hasn't found a REAL friend.
