むかし、カラという名の天使がいました。 カラは天使の中でも一番小さい天使でした。 カラには羽がありませんでした。羽をもらうためにはよいことをしなくてはなりません。 でもそれはただのよいことぐらいではだめで、すばらしくよいことでなくてはならないのです！ カラは羽のために何度もがんばりましたが、それらはまだまだのようでした。 天使のリーダー、ガブリエラはカラにあきらめてはだめだといいました。
クリスマスの数日前、カラは雲にのって親友のサンタクロースに会いにいきました。 サンタは心配顔をしていました。
"どうしたの？" カラはききました。"いや、ルドルフが病気で、その上お天気トナカイが、明日わしが子供たちにプレゼントをくばるころは曇りだろうっていうんだ。 どうしたらいいんだろう。" サンタはないていました。
"心配しないで。わたしが何か考えるから！" そういってカラはさよならと手をふりました。
次の夜、羽のある天使たちは全員クリスマスキャロルを歌ってクリスマスエンジェルになるための用意をしていました。 どきどきする気持ちをおさえながらカラはサンタの家にまた行きました。
"サンタ！いいことがあるわ！わたしをソリにくくりつけてちょうだい。わたしの光の輪で道を照らしてあげるわ！" カラはさけんだ。"ホゥ、ホゥ、ホゥ！それはいい考えじゃ！魔法のトナカイの粉をふりかけてあげよう。そうすれば一晩空を飛ぶことができるんだ。" サンタはうれしそうにそういいました。
カラとサンタはその夜のひとまわり仕事をなしとげました。 カラは魔法の粉の力で空を飛んでかえりました。 でもいつの間にかカラは美しい新しい羽で飛んでいたのでした。
Once upon a time there lived an angel named Kara. She was the littlest angel of them all. Kara had no wings. To earn your wings you have to do a good deed. But not just any deed, a wonderful deed! Kara tried and tried to earn her wings, but everything she did just wasn't good enough. The head angel, Gabreila told Kara to never give up. A few days before Christmas, kara rode up on a cloud to visit her good friend, Santa Claus. Santa looked worried. "What's wrong Santa?" Kara asked. "Well, Rouldoph is sick, and the Weather Elves told me it is going to be cloudy tomorrow nightwhen I deliver the presents to all the boys and girls! What am I going to to?"cried Santa. " Don't worry, I'll think of something! " said Kara as she waved goodbye. The next night, all the angels that had wings were preparing to sing the Christmas carols and be Christmas angels. With excitement bubbling, Kara rode up to Santa's house again. "Santa! I have an idea! If you hook me up to your sleigh, I can give you light with my halo! " Exclaimed Kara. " Ho! Ho! Ho! What a great idea! If I sprinkel you with magic reindeer dust you will be abel to fly for just one night. " Said Santa happily. Kara and santa made their rounds that night. Kara flew with the power of magic dust on the way, but on the way back home, Kara could fly with her beatiful new wings.
