昔々、肌寒い森の中にミロという男が住んでいた。 この男はただものではなかった。 ミロはマジックが使えた。マジックショーのようなマジックではない種類のマジックなのだ。 ミロは魔法使いだといってもいいだろう。 ミロは彼の時代がやってくることを知っていた。 魔法を無駄にしないようにと決心して、全部をある花の中に封じ込めた。 その花はユリだった。本当のユリではない。ユリは森では育たないものだ。 ミロは、だれか特別な人が見つけてくれるように思いながらすべての魔法をそのユリの中にしまった。 それから彼は消えてしまった。 2千年後、コーディという男の子が生まれた。 コーディは森の片すみにある村に住んでいた。 生まれたときから彼は特別だった。赤ちゃんなのに泣きもしなかった。 学校では勉強がとてもよくできた。 みんなの人気者だった。コーディの両親は彼が2歳のときになくなってコーディはおじさんといっしょに住んでいた。 コーディは森を散歩するのが好きだった。 散歩は考える時間を与えてくれる。 とても平和な時間だった。おじさんの家はいつも騒がしかった。 コーディはいとこ6人とイヌ1匹と住んでいた。 ある日コーディは、散歩しているうちに道に迷ってしまった。 道がわかったと思ったとたんまた迷ってしまうのだ。 見晴らしのよいところに出た。そんなに広くない場所だった。 真ん中にユリが一本立っていた。 コーディはその花を見たことがなかった。 道がわかったらこの花を家に持っていこう、と彼は決めた。 コーディは花に近づいた。甘い香りがした。 花に手をふれたとき、全身がしびれるような感じがした。 彼は今まで不可能だと思っていたことができると感じた。 切り開いたようなその場所を通って彼は家に帰った。そして 長い一生を医学の発明にささげた。
Long ago, in a cool forest, there lived a man named Milo. This was no ordinary man. He knew magic. Not magic people use for magic shows, but other magic. I guess you could call him a wizard. Milo knew his time would come soon. He decided as not to waste his magic, to store it all in a flower. The flower was a Lily. It wasn't a real Lily because Lilies don't grow in forests. He put all his magic in the Lily in hopes of a special person to find it. He then faded away. Two Thousand years later, a boy was born named was Cody. He lived in a village on the edge of the forest. Right from the start he was special. He never cried when he was a baby. He was very smart at school. Everybody liked him. Cody's parents died when he was two, and he went to stay with his uncle. Cody liked to take walks in the forest. It gave him time to think. It was so peaceful. His uncles house was always noisy. He had 6 cousins living there, and a dog. One day, on one of Cody's walks, he got lost. One moment he knew where he was, the next moment he was lost. He came upon a clearing. It wasn't very big. In the middle of the clearing stood a Lily. Cody had never seen such a flower. He decided when he could take home when he figured out where he was. He walked over to it. It smelled so sweet. When Cody touched the flower, he felt a tingling through out his entire body. He knew how to do things he never thought possible. He made a home in the clearing and devoted his long life to inventing cures.
