Emperor penguins live in Antarctica. Antarctica is on the bottom of the world, below the south side of the equator. In the summer in Antarctica, it is ten degrees below zero. Penguins eat krill. Leopard seals eat penguins. Penguins have many enemies--people because they bother the penguins. Its height is 45 inches. Its head if black, black with yellow things on its cheek.

The Emperor is the biggest penguin. The Emperor penguin has 24 feathers per square inch. The tail and wings are used to steer. They can dive to 870 feet. They can stay in water for 18 minutes. It swims not with its feet, but with its flippers.

The penguins walk with their wings by thei sides. They lie on their tummies and slilde. That is called tobogganing. Penguins toboggan on their tummies because it's fun. They can't fly because they are too heavy. There are many kinds of penguins.

The Emperor penguins can lay up to two eggs. They lay their eggs in between the father's feet. When the egs hatch, the babies come out brown. The moms can walk up to 100 miles to get to the ocean to get food for the babies when they hatch.
