"The Clown and The Girl"
by

I am a clown. I have funny red hair and a big red nose. I dance around the circus ring with a big smile on my face. I love kids. But one day something strange happened. A little girl, maybe 3 years old, wandered into the ring. She came up to me and said "I wanna be a clown!"

"Where is your mommy and daddy?" I asked her.

"I don't have one." Came her simple reply. Her eyes became misty.

"Will you be my mommy?"

I didn't know what to say. Before I could think I blurted out "Sure." I took her in but constantly tried to find her parents. Then one day in my search a creamy white unicorn came up to me.

"Where is our child? Do you know?" She was obviously frantic.

"I haven't seen any unicorns. Sorry." I replied.

"You don't understand. She looks about 3 years old, human, with cute little dimples and short, brown hair."

Just then my little Jessi came running up behind me. That's the little orphan girl. Seeing her brown hair shining I wondered if this was the unicorn's daughter. Then my question was answered.

"Laurney!" The unicorn yelled, releif in her voice. Then, before for my eyes my little Jessi, Laurney, turned into a beautiful white unicorn foal and walked off with her mother into the sun.

Knowing no one would beleive me I told everyone I found her parents but never told anyone that her parents were unicorns.
