"Adoptive wearabout"
by
Nellie

O ne day in a far away land, a young girl was playing in the corn fields."Mother," the young girl ,called Melanie, yelled.Melanies mother was in the corn field too,but she wasn't playing.Melanies Mother had 10 children,so she didn't have much time to play.
It was the pionneer days,so life was fairly hard for a child.Melanies father worked 16 hours a day in a shoe makeing buissness.Melanie ran over to her mother. Melanies mother looked stressed and tiered.
"Mother may we play now?"asked Melanie."Dear,Milison has the flu,and I must care for her carefully."Melanies mother had said."May I help?"asked Melanie."No,but you may have lunch."Melanies mother had said."You orphan!"yelled May.
"What?"said Melanie."may!I was going to wait untill you were older, but I adopted you right after I married your father.I didn't want to tell you so soon, but May overheard me and your father talking about your adoption last night."Said Melanies adoptive mother."Tell me about my true parents then."said Melanie holding back tears."Well nobody knows."said Melanies adoptive mother."You were just found in a small little tunnel, with a star coloured scarf, wrapped around you."
A year or so later a man went to Melanies house and knocked on the door.Melanie opened the door. The man was wearing a star covered robe and he had a little gotee."Come with me,"the man said,"I am your one and only father called,Andola.Come with me for a better life."
melanie thought about it."You have not cared for me,sheltered me or fed me.My proper father did that. For he loves me as much as his life. For he works hard to get me into school and he works hard to keep all his family sheltered and fed.He is my proper father."Melanie bid him farewell and closed the door.My father loves me and so does my family, she thought.I am the luckiest girl in the world!
