was in Language class talking with my best friend, Virginia. We were sitting at the very back of the class, so we hoped the teacher couldn? see us. All of a sudden, the teacher called out my name, ?hirley!? Virginia and I snapped out of our conversation and turned to face him. ?hirley, do you know the answer to number 7?? The tips of my ears burned red as I whispered feebly ?o?. ?ere you paying attention?? This question I decided to not answer. He commanded me to come to the front of the classroom and face the chalkboard. I did so. He then drew a circle in the middle of the board and said, ?ut your nose in the center of the circle and stay that way until I tell you otherwise.? I spent the rest of the time in class staring cross eyed at a blur of green with chalk dust landing on me and going up my nose so that I continuously sneezed. Boy, was I glad when that class ended. From now on, I? not going to talk when he is trying to teach. |
