he Adventures Of Sara, Jasmine, and Penny the Salmon
By Olivia Hamm
Chapter I
One day in the cold, cold, Black River there were three stocks of salmon eggs. They were white, and very slippery. They were also, shiny, and smooth. Hope was looking over her eggs when one of the eggs that would be called Sara hatched! It was her first alevin and Hope was very glad her eggs hatched. Then, a fish messenger came and gave her a message. Belle, who was Hope? best friend, had great news! One of her eggs had hatched. Her name was Jasmine.
?hey can be best friends like Belle and I were!? Hope thought. Suddenly, thousands of Hope? eggs hatched! The next day, a little salmon swam over to Sara.
?i, my name is Jasmine! Do you want to be my best friend?? Jasmine asked.
?y name is Sara, and I want to be your best friend.? Sara exclaimed. The next day, another fish messenger came, and told Hope that her other friend, Emily? eggs had hatched. The day after that, another little alevin came swimming over and said to Jasmine and Sara who were playing fish and seek. Jasmine swam over behind their newly built clubhouse. Sara popped out from behind it.
?o fair! You peeked!? Sara yelled.
?o I didn?! I just guessed!? Jasmine shrieked.
?i. My name is Penny. My mommy said that I? like to be your friends. Do you two want to be my best friends??
?es!? Jasmine and Sara yelled and they became best friends instantly.
Chapter II
Over the next few years, the baby salmon grew up to be big adult salmon. Now, one day the three friends were swimming in the North Atlantic Ocean. All of the sudden, there was a big WOOSH! behind the girls. A huge net came swooping by, and Sara was swept up in the net!!!
?elp me! Help me! You gotta get me out of here! I don? want to be human food!? Sara
?ara! You have you have to get everyone to swim down! I saw this movie once! All of the fish had to swim down and they were freed.? Penny yelled over the fish? cries.
? can?! There are to many fish!? Sara yelled back.
?k. I will yell to all of the other fish! Penny you too!? Jasmine yelled.
Jasmine and Penny raced off, and a cloud of bubbles followed Penny. Sara couldn? help herself. She burst out laughing, and a grumpy old fish next to her said,
?hat are you laughing at? We could die in only mere moments!?
?ell, it was funny to see a cloud of fart-bubbles following my friend!? Sara yelled.
About ten minutes later, the grumpy old fish next to her told Sara to swim down.
?es! Jasmine and Penny got the word around!? Sara thought. After about ten minutes of lots and lots of frantic downward swimming, the fisherman jumped back, and suddenly the net snapped off the metal reel it was attached to! Suddenly, the net fell to the bottom of the ocean, and all the fish swam away. That is, all of the fish except Sara. She was under all of the netting, and she wasn? moving.
?es, my idea worked!? Penny yelled. Then she noticed Sara. She swam over to Jasmine and told her.
Jasmine and Penny raced over to her, and tried to get her up.
?i guys. That was wicked! You were awesome!? Sara said, exceptionally happy, considering that a big mesh had just squished her.
?re you all right?? Jasmine asked.
?up. Just fine.?
The girls swam home to the Black River to spawn. Sara was chattering so fast that no one could understand her.
?ogouys, thatwassoooawsomehowyouconvin-cedeveryonetoswimdown!? Sara said, as they were nearing the Cape Cod bay. ?H MY GOSH youguys! Lookatthathugemongusturtle!? Sara yelled. In front of them was a hugemungous turtle. ?et? fight it!? Sara yelled.
Chapter III
?h no crazy! Let? not, if we do, we might get killed!? Jasmine said.
?eah, let? fight it!? Penny yelled.
?hatever,? Jasmine sighed.
?r. Turtle, or should I say Mrs. Turtle, can we fight you?? Sara asked Mr. Turtle.
?ES!? A big voice boomed.
?reat! I want to fight and win,? Sara and Penny yelled.
Fifteen minutes later, after Mr. Turtle had dominated the fight, Sara and Penny were lying to the side, feeling sick. Mr. Turtle had beaten Sara in round one. They watched Jasmine karate-chop Mr. Turtle. But, all that happened was that he yelled in pain. Next, Jasmine poked him in the stomach and he swam away in pain.
?ICTORY! Victory is to the salmon! The turtle loses!? Jasmine yelled.
?azz, you are overreacting, calm down,? Sara said.
?et? go eat some food,? Jasmine
yelled, and pulled Sara and Penny by the fins over to the edge of the pier.
?azz, leave us alone!? Penny screamed.
?ll right, all right,? Jasmine sighed. ? guess that I?l be the only one having FUN!? Jasmine yelled, and swam off.
?azz, come back!? Sara yelled, and forgetting her pain, swam off after her. Penny followed, and soon the two salmon were following Jasmine around Cape Cod.
Soon, they were at the mouth of the Black River.
?lmost home!? Jasmine yelled about three days after the girls had arrived in Cape Cod. Those days had been filled with meeting new fish, and eating all that they could.
They swam about one more day, and they found their mothers? homes.
?h, Sara, look at our mother? homes! They are great! Let? go find them!? Jasmine yelled. The three salmon swam around Sara? house, Jasmine, and Penny? houses, but no one was there. As Sara looked around her house, she found a note. It read,
Dear Sara and Family,
Your father and I are going on a trip to Greenland. Jasmine? parents and Penny? parents are coming. We will be back on the 15th of July. We do know that you are coming back from your trip to the ocean, and we will see you when you get back.
Yours Truly,
Mom and Dad.
Sara shared her find with Jasmine and Penny, and they remembered that today was the 15th of July! They would see their parents soon! They waited, and waited in their old clubhouse, but they were so big that they barely had any room! They waited for one more hour before they heard their parents.
?h, Hope, I had a wonderful time inBelle exclaimed.
?h my, I too cannot wait.? Hope said.
Then, there was a period of time where everything was muffled talk, and all that they could make out was words like ?ivorce? and, ?hey might not like it.? And ?? not going to tell her.?
?UPRIZE!? Sara, Jasmine, and Penny had jumped out of the clubhouse and had scared their parents.
?e saw your letter!? Sara yelled.
?h, my.? Hope said. ?id you hear what we were saying all this time??
?ell, we heard a little, but not much. But, it was enough to know. Enough to know that someone is getting divorced!? Sara shouted.
The three girls swam off, and they hid out in the old schoolhouse for three days. Finally, on the third day, they left, and went home. When they got there, no one was there. Everyone was on a hunt for them.
ONE YEAR LATER??
Sara was watching her eggs, at her new house. Suddenly, one egg hatched.
?i, my name is Callie. Are you my mommy?? Callie, Sara? first daughter asked .
?ell, yes, I am your mom. My name is Sara.?
Then, a fish messenger came and said, ? have a message for you. Your friend Jasmine is coming over. She has a surprise for you.?
Five minutes later, Jasmine came over, and had a little alevin trailing behind her.
?i Sara, I would like you to meet Kristen.? Jasmine said.
?nd, Jasmine and Kristen, I? like you to meet Callie.? Callie swam out, right on cue, and said, ?i, do you want to be my best friend Kristen??
?eah, Yeah, Yeah!? Kristen cried. Then, one thousand eggs hatched.
The next day at the crack of dawn, another fish messenger came.
?enny the salmon is coming.?
Penny came in ten minutes. Callie and Kristen were playing in their mother? old clubhouse. Then, Penny? daughter Hannah came over.
?o you want to be my best friends?? Hannah asked.
?es, Yes, Yes!? Callie and Kristen yelled.
The three girls became best friends instantly. They played in their mom? clubhouse, and did everything the exact same way their mothers had.
A FEW YEARS LATER
Callie, Kristen, and Hannah were swimming in the North Atlantic Ocean, and suddenly, WOOSH! A huge net swept up Callie.
?elp! Help me!? she cried.
?on? worry!? Hannah yelled. ?e need to get everyone to swim down! My mom told me that she saw a movie and all the fishes had to swim down to get freed!? Hannah and Kristen swam off to get the the salmon who were caught to swim down.
