t happened again! Two weeks had passed and it happened again.
I will now describe how this occurred. The year was 1983. Henry was a tall man at 6 feet 5 inches.
He had short brown hair with a little gray, brown eyes and weighed
236 pounds. His wife Clair was much smaller than Henry. She was
5 feet 6 inches tall, with hazel eyes and long gray hair that
hung past her shoulders. Henry and Clair had a daughter Jamie.
Jamie was 14 years old with long blonde hair and green eyes. Henry was driving to school to pick-up Jamie when he heard
on the radio that he had won the lottery. As the winner of the
lottery, he and his family won a luxury home in Lima Ohio. After
he picked up Jamie, they called Clair and told her the good news.
Henry told Clair to meet them at home right away. The ride home
was full of screams of joy. When Henry and Jamie arrived home, to their surprise Clair
was already there and had most of their belongings packed. The
movers arrived to help move the furniture. Jamie did not like
the movers or their truck. The truck was junky with weird spray
painted symbols on it. The movers wore all black and walked around
never looking anyone in the eyes. They gave Jamie the creeps.
Jamie went about packing and moving her things. They worked so
hard and fast it was like a tornado went through the house. Henry, Clair, Jamie and the movers arrived at the new house,
they were very impressed. It was beautiful. The most beautiful
house on the block. It was painted bright yellow with different
color bricks to accent the home. The roof had orange tiles. Jamie
was excited about the huge green lawn. She couldn’t wait to invite
her friends to come over and play outside with her. The front
door was unusual. It was tall, painted forest green and trimmed
in blue. Henry parked the car; Jamie bolted out of the car like it
was about to blow up! Henry and Clair approached the front door
where Jamie was waiting. Henry looked at Clair and saw the mischief
in her eyes. “Oh my gosh, I think I left the keys to our new house
at our old house! Henry wailed. They slowly walked up the stairs. Clair was a little spooked
as each stair had a strange creak. Jamie was waiting for them
at the top of the stairs. Jamie grabbed Henry and Clair‘s hands
and pulled them into a bedroom. “This is your room, said Jamie.
It was a nice room of average size. It had a king size bed, dressers
and a small television. Henry walked to the over sized closet
and couldn’t help noticing it was full of clothing. Strange he
thought. Clair noticed a huge mirror that hung over the dresser.
She walked closer to take a peek. She couldn’t help feeling uneasy
about the mirror. There was something not right about that mirror. Jamie led them into her room to show them around. Jamie’s room
had pink wallpaper, a small bed in the corner and a small television. When the movers were done unloading their furniture in the
garage, everyone was tired. They decided it was time to go to
bed. They would begin to unpack all their personal belongings
in the morning. During the night when everyone was sound asleep and the house
was dead silent, Henry felt someone slap him on his face. He
immediately sat up in bed wide awake. He felt a tingle of fear
creeping up his spine and the hairs on the back of his neck stood
up. Henry decided to check on Jamie. Was it possible that it could
have been Jamie that slapped him? When Henry stepped into Jamie’s
room, he could see her outline snuggled in bed. She was sound
asleep. Henry decided maybe his mind was playing tricks on him.
He went back to bed. For the next two weeks all went as normal. They unpacked their
personal belongings, moved furniture around, went to work and
school and were very happy adjusting to their new home. On January
30, 1983 everything changed. It began as every other evening.
But it would not end like that....... Clair and Jamie decided to hit the hay early after a long
and tiring day. Henry wasn’t tired. He sat down to read his fishing
magazine for a while. Henry began to think he heard whispering.
He got up and looked around. Not finding anything, he decided
he must have imagined it. Once again he sat down and began to
read. This time what he heard was not a whisper. It was a voice.
A much louder voice. Henry got up and began to look around again.
As he walked from room to room, he couldn’t help but feel as though
someone was watching him. When Henry walked into the kitchen
he heard the voice again. It was so loud Henry gasped in fear.
As he spun around he saw a large lump raising up beneath the
kitchen rug. He grabbed a kitchen chair and smashed it down on
the lump in the rug. The rug collapsed. He poked at the rug and
found nothing underneath but floor. Once again Henry thought
maybe his mind was playing tricks on him. He was very tired and
went to bed. The next day when Jamie arrived home from school
she found that neither Henry nor Clair was home. Jamie grabbed
a quick snack and settled on the couch to do her homework and
watch television. Jamie was in the middle of doing her math homework when a
loud shriek came from upstairs. She jumped off the couch and
ran upstairs as fast as her legs would carry her. She ran into
her bedroom and found nothing. She then ran into her parents
room and found nothing in their either. She turned around to
leave and thought she was something out of the corner of her
eye. As she turned to get a better look, a picture flew off the
wall and hit her in the side of the head. That was the last thing
Jamie remembered. Jamie opened her eyes slowly. Her head hurt badly. She looked
around and didn’t recognize where she was. She was in a bed in
a small white walled room with a television. Beside her bed was
a tall machine that made beeping noises. Jamie felt something heavy on her legs. She looked down and
saw her mother leaning over resting her head on Jamie’s knees. “Mom, I saw him. There is a ghost man in our house, I saw him!
Jamie yelled. “Okay, okay dear, whatever you say said Clair. The next few days Clair stayed with Jamie at the hospital.
Henry came to visit during the day, but went home in the evenings. As each day passed, Henry became more and more withdrawn.
The voices in the house grew louder. Henry was hearing them all
the time now. But the voices were only the beginning. Now Henry
was seeing furniture move, bright balls of light dancing around
the house and shadows of a man walking around the house. He was
totally freaking out. Most evenings he would sit in a corner
with his eyes closed tight rocking back and forth. Jamie was released from the hospital early one morning. Clair
and Jamie arrived home to find Henry sitting in a corner rocking
back and forth. He looked awful. He had not shaved, changed clothes,
or eaten in a couple days. When they moved closer, they saw his eyes were blood shot
red and he was whispering over and over again “get out. Clair
and Jamie were scared. Clair rushed to the telephone and called
the police. When the police arrived it didn’t take them long to realize
Henry needed help. They helped him into their police car and
rushed him to the hospital emergency room. Clair and Jamie followed
close behind. After a long wait, the doctor came out to talk with Clair
and Jamie. They could not believe what they were hearing. The
doctor said Henry had suffered a nervous breakdown and would
need to be place in an insane asylum right away. He did not know
what caused the breakdown and said Henry was in a very bad condition.
Henry was taken away. Clair and Jamie were in shock and scared of what was happening
to their family. Without a word spoken between them, they left
the hospital and never went back to the house. Henry never recovered. Clair and Jamie never returned to the
house. They couldn’t help but feel that the house was the blame
for Henry’s condition. With a silent promise between them, they
never returned nor ever set eyes on the house again. |
