H
enry Hudson was born around 1565. His birthplace is unknown, but was raised in England. When Henry was very young he heard about the Far East Passage. So, Henry started to sail at age sixteen. After many years of sailing, Henry was promoted to the fine position of apprentice. By 1607, Henry Hudson had become an experienced man of sea. Hudson sailed three times for the English and once the Dutch. Henryís last journey was for an English company. In 1611, Henry Hudson, his son John, and seven loyal crewmen were set adrift in a tiny sailboat and were never heard from again. Henry Hudson supposedly died sometime after June of 1611.
