 hamplain was a French explorer who made several trips to the Americas. He was born in 1567 and died in 1635. Champlain's first trip to North America was 1603. He was sent there to map the places where beavers were found. Champlain spent months exploring the forests of the area that is now eastern Canada. Over the next few years, Champlain explored lands all along St. Lawrence River. He built the first important French settlement in the Americas, which is now Quebec, Canada. |
