"The Stone"

t was a sharp cool day in the countryside outside of Dublin, Ireland. Lindsey hated the crisp cool air. She would rather be in the sunlight on a beach in the Bahamas at the vacation house than be here on her way to classes at boarding school. Ever since Lindsey's father had sent her there she hated it. Last year when she was about to begin middle school her father told her she would be sent to boarding school. He had thought that she would get a better education away from the city life and would be more focused. She wanted someway to get out of this place.

As she walked to the arts building she stumbled on a stone. It was blue, shiny and had strange markings on it. She thought it looked unique and kept it because she could probably make a necklace out of it. Later in the day during math her teacher gave back their tests. Lindsey had thought she would fail them because she did not study very hard. Surprisingly she got the highest grade in the class. Throughout the day Lindsey was extremely lucky. Maybe this stone was good luck or something she had thought to herself.

The following day Lindsey had figured with her lucky stone she would probably do well on her quizzes that day. But she was wrong. She had done horrible on all of them because she didn't study. Maybe this stone is not lucky after all, maybe this stone is a one-day lucky stone and maybe other people have found stones like this one.

When Lindsey got back to her room she decided to research the stone. She scanned it into her computer and did a match online. She found no data on the subject. So she decided to post it on the web. She posted it online and waited for results. For a few days she got nothing. Then, on Tuesday, after going home for the holiday weekend she got an email with no return address on it. Inside the email was a web address. Lindsey typed it in and came to the website. On the top of the webpage was a code and with its translation which said: The Stone Holds All.

The site had lot information about magic and how the stone was a fairies stone. The site had pictures of stones just like Lindsey's. The site said this stone contained a fairies emergency power just in case the fairies lost them it also kept a copy of all the magical creatures' rules for using magic and special powers depending on what kind creature the holder was. Kind of like a backup cd for a computer program. It contained all sorts of powers good and bad. Each day that you have it will give you a different affect on your life as long as you keep it with you. So you should probably lock the stone in a safe place because if the stone you hold has dark powers you could hurt someone. Or if someone takes the stone from you it could be used to do some serious destruction. Also lock it up because if you touch the stone or are near it could give you the powers both good and bad.

After reading this Lindsey did not believe it. She decided to make it into a necklace because it was dark blue and matched her school uniform. Over the next few days' different things happened to her. One day everyone she touched she hurt. Another day everything she looked at turned into flowers. "Well maybe this is what the website said it was."

Lindsey went back to her room after classes and logged back on to the website. She continued reading about the stones. The site said that each stone had a symbol on it so that the fairies could tell them apart. One part of the symbol told the fairies clan. The other part told you the specific fairies name. After that it said that the fairy whom the stone belonged to, would want it back soon.

After that Lindsey started thinking. "Well I've had this stone for a week and a half, I wondered why the fairy has not tried to get it back".

Meanwhile a fairy named Daisy Tree was searching all of Ireland from top to bottom. "D'Arvit" she yelled out loud while flying over Northern Ireland. She had been chasing a troll that roamed the underground tunnels of Paris on her latest mission. He had used his powers to get rid of her powers and now she needed her stone to get her powers back. What did she do with it; she had last used it about two weeks ago and had remembered how she carefully put it back in her pocket. "Where could it be?" she had thought.

Daisy was apart of the fairies SPRite program open to both fairies and sprites (small fairies that help with plants and gardens). SPRite stood for Special Precautions Regiment. As a uniform she wore a pair of pants and a matching jacket which both blended in with the surroundings that she was in. She also had a matching hat that went over her short chestnut brown hair and a set of detachable wings (a new model of wings each month). In this program a few select fairies and sprites spy on what humans were doing. They were to see what was being planned by the ground dwellers. They had to make sure no magical creatures were near where a war or world crisis that was going on and that the creatures were safely evacuated before a war or battle began. They had spies in all over the world and she was on the SPRites squad for Ireland, Northern Ireland and England. Anything going on there she and the other members of that group would take care of it.

So, on her last mission that meddling troll took her powers and she couldn't help anyone. "Now where was the place where I had last used my stone?" she said. Somewhere near Dublin because one of those nymphs (that lived in a Dublin fountain) had a bad attitude because she had to evacuate its fountain because of pollution and it had to be cleaned. Where in Dublin was it?

After about three weeks Lindsey started thinking. If this was a fairies stone maybe she could try to get in contact with the owner of the stone. Maybe for returning it she could get a wish and could wish herself out of boarding school. But of coarse this could not happen. Lindsey had read on the site that whenever a ground dweller got a fairy stone a fairy naturally believed it was stolen. Usually they would give the person who had found the stone permanent bad luck.

As Daisy was flying she found her friend Peach Vine flying also." Where are you going?" asked Daisy. "I have a mission at Disneyland Paris, there's a threat that gnome wants to exploit all the fairies working in the Peter Pan and Snow White Exhibits" said Peach. "That sound serious, you better get flying" said Daisy. Also on her way down to Dublin she saw the same troll that had stolen her power, she was as mad as a bull seeing red and chased after him. She wanted revenge. She dodged a plane and two seagulls and went towards the troll. She went up behind him, her jacket blending with the night sky so that he could not see her. She went up behind him and hit him in the head and covered his eyes. The troll was confused and started to try and pull Daisy off his face. He pulled her off tossing her into the night sky.

There was a knock on Lindsey's door. "Happy Birthday!" yelled her friends. "What?" said Lindsey. She had forgotten it was her birthday with all that was going on with the fairy stone. Her friends had brought her a cake and presents and they had a party in her dorm room. They lit the candles on the cake and sang happy birthday. As she blew out the candles Lindsey wished that the fairy would come soon. She did not want to be in Ireland for much longer.
