One day a stranger and his daughter appeared on the horizon. "I am Gradlon, a soldier of fortune. I have come to seek and destroy the dragon that holds you in tyranny. I sell you my strength and my sword, not for gold, but for the kingdom of YS. "Then a little voice rudely pointed out:" And I'm his daughter Dahut" "who is a little spoilt" whispered Gradlon. All of the people of YS gazed at him in wonder. Suddenly the lookout person shouted out: "THE DRAGON HAS ARRIVED, the dragon has arrived, quickly, hide all of you 'cause the dragon has arrived!" People ran around franticly trying to find a way out until finally they ran behind Gradlon, for safety. The time had come; Gradlon had to kill the dragon. He was looking up in the corner in the dragons cave. "Daddy, there is a twig in my walkway, Demolish that twig!" said spoilt little Dahut. Gradlon was turning into more a "slave" than a dad. So as he knew what happened if he didn't entirely for fill his daughter's wishes, he picked up the twig and threw it over the fence, because somehow, Dahut always seemed to like to show that she's boss when really she isn't. Anyway, on with the dragon. They were walking nervously, when suddenly, Dahut said with such a tinny nervous voice:" daddy, look behind you." Slowly gradlon's head turned and there it was, the dragon. With his mighty spear he took: first stab: only just hurting the dragon. Second stab: the dragon was half alive half dead. That doesn't make sense but you know what I mean. And last stab (Dahut joined in on this one too) As previously they had made a hole in the dragon, Gradlon got the heart, The most important bit, and Dahut just got whatever was left of it which wouldn't of made any difference at all. Dahut and Gradlon put their spears up in the air to show victory. Every body in YS Gasped. The spine of the great dragon Gradlon so valiantly killed was made into a sea wall with a lock gate so the village couldn't be harmed by the sea. Gradlon was tired of war. Throughought some cold years he'd imagined an ideal society, based on ingenuity, economics and trade. Gradlon put the only key to the lock around his neck. And that's where a traveller comes in, or rather came in, ten years later, when all of Gradlons dreams had come true. When YS became a great city and the fishy smell of its people had been disguised by posh perfume. When Dahut had grown into a new kind of monster. Soon after the traveller found a new companion, He's half man, half fish and they were just passing through when Dahut spotted the merman and said sweetly: "how much do you want for the merman?" "he-he's not for sale" replied the traveller, spluttering. "Everything has its price HOW MUCH?!" asked Dahut very rudely. "what a dear, sweet-natured child" said the traveller sarcastically. "Do forgive her, her mum's passed away, she's what you'd call., pushy "A daily rental if you like, starting with tonight, on approval, I'll fix the rates WHEN I FIND OUT WHAT HE'S WORTH!!!" Shouted Dahut " he's not mine to sell or rent" said the traveller, soon Dahut had found a way around it, her posh private school had paid off. "good, then I'll have him for FREE!" "You, said Dahut, ordering the people of YS about, Sort out my shopping and don't get sticky fingers, I know EXACTLY what's there. And you take him to the palace and lock him in my room, I've decided to take a few private singing lessons. "mmmmmmmmm" hummed Dahut "la" and she pointed to her tongue. Back at Gradlons castle, Dahut soon realised her private singing lessons were not on the menu. "la la la la LA la la la la" shouted Dahut as she stamped her feet "Dad seaman won't sing, take him back to that old woman IMMEDIATLEY!" Dahut shouted and she stamped off into the corner of her bedroom and sat on her four poster bed. Gradlon bundled him in his shopping trolley and went over to the traveller who was now busking, giving her something to do while she was waiting for the merman to be returned. "I see you have returned the merman" said the traveller "he wont sing to my daghter"said gradlon "set him free" said the traveler as she got the merman to run around the harbour. "The merman has escaped!" shouted the people of YS. Soon they had decided to have a hunt for the merman to be killed. They all took out their mighty spears and began to hunt the murman down. They made a circle around him and killed him. Soon Dahut came running in. "who has done this, who is to blame?"she cried "he threatend our livelyhoods"said one person of YS "we want equal shares" said another "she's the one to blame" said another "yeah she's the one" said all of them "we want a crime a criminal and a punishment" said the forth one "and we find her guilty. "Guilty, guilty GUILTY!" They all shouted "I will defend my actions to no one, I am responsible to no one, you stole what was mine and I will have my revenge on all of you"cried Dahut She demolished the sea wall and so the sea came in and the
wonderful city of YS got swept away by the sea. There is a tide
called Quennels tide where the sea goes out so far the remains
of a great city can be seen. A long stone cause way is all that
remains of once a great city called YS. |
