ello, I'm Sunflower. I guess that if you believe in your dreams (or some-one else's) you can make them come true. But you have to put your mind to it. And that's what this story is about, believing.

I was walking along the road to my first Day at Mayborn Middle School, Picking a sunflower here, blowing a dandelion there. I knew it was going to be hard joining in the summer term, and that the others would know more than me, but nevertheless I was looking forward to my first day.

Mayborn middle was a tall, looming building. Despite myself I felt nervous. That was when I saw Sara. Her hair was black and loose, flowing down her body in smooth ripples. Her face was buried in a book, so I couldn't see it.

"Umm... Hi." I said, trembling slightly. "What's your name?" Suddenly I felt very stupid. "You are SUCH an idiot, Sunflower Spark!" I told myself. But the girl looked up from her book and smiled. "I'm Sara. Who are you?" "I'm... I'm Sunflower." I was scared that she'd laugh and say I had a silly name, but she didn't.
Instead she said "Sunflower..." very softly and turned around and started jumping up and down waving madly. "Mimi! Over here! There's a new girl!"

Mimi caught sight of Sara and rushed over. "Hey, Sara! Are you Ok?" As they talked, I observed Mimi. Her hair was in two blonde "Teddy Ears" and her eyes as blue as the sea. Just like mine! I looked at Sara. BLUE eyes!

It wasn't long before two more of Sara's friends arrived. Sara and Mimi Jumped up and down, beckoning. They were called Rachel and Jessica. Rachel was tall and slim; her hair dyed a reddish-brown and tied back in a side-ponytail with two star clips. Her eyes were also blue! Jessica too was very tall and her hair was in a sort of double knot on her head. As for her eyes... they were blue.

They started to talk. Sara gestured at me and said "This is sunflower." I smiled. Sara, Mimi, Rachel and Jessica smiled back. The bell rung. "Over there," whispered Sara. "Go to Mister Midvale." Then she disappeared into the crowd.

I walked up to Mister Midvale. "Err... Hello. I was wondering... I mean... That is... Would you happen to know what class I'm in?" He smiled. "Sunflower Spark, Is it?" I nodded. "Let's go to the office and see."

Chapter two- It's a new class. It's a new school.
He led me to the office, and I walked beside him. After what seemed like ages, though I knew it wasn't, we reached the entrance. "In you go." Mister Midvale said. And with that he left me there.

I wandered into the office, and asked the one of the sectaries my class. "Name?" she asked. "Sunflower Spark." "Ah, yes, 5M. You get Miss Mandel, You lucky thing. This way!" She led me to a door with a photo of Miss Mandel and all the pupils 0f her class on the front. I spotted Sara on it. "Wahoo!" I thought to myself. I thanked the sectary for her trouble and went in.

Sara was waving at me. There was a space next to her and she was patting it and grinning. I sat down. Miss Mandel laughed and said "Welcome- Sunflower!" Then she carried on teaching.

Days went on and I was happy. Until the day when we all went to Rachel's house for a sleepover, everything was normal.

Chapter three- The sleepover distraction

Rachel unlocked the front door, and her two dogs, Jasper and Bouncer, came out and licked her knees. "Hey, Jasper! That tickles! Get off, Bouncer!" She grabbed them by the collars, herded them into the kitchen, shut the door and burst into a fit of giggles.

"Dad! I'm home!" She managed to say. "I think we noticed!" called a voice. "Eh, giggly girl?" Her dad was in the hall now, tickling her. Rachel squealed. She is probably the most ticklish girl EVER! Her Dad laughed and poked her. Rachel fell screaming onto the floor. We all leapt on her and joined in. "I'll leave you to it, then. When you've finished, you can go to Rachel's room. I'll call you when it's teatime."

When Rachel had finally surrendered, we trooped up to her room. And there, standing in front of us was a girl. We exchanged bewildered glances. After a few minutes of staring, the girl spoke. "I am Glimmer, the spirit watcher." She whispered. "I have come for your help. The five element fairies have had their souls stolen. I cannot venture from my home, for I must watch the soul spirit of the world. I need you to collect all of them. They have been scattered out into the forgotten world. Will you do this for me?"

"Err..." I said. "Umm...." said Rachel. "Group huddle!" yelled Jessica. We huddled up. "I think we should do It." murmured Sara. "Yeah, me too." I replied. "So do I." agreed Rachel. "We're going to do it then?" I asked. "Yes!" shouted Rachel. "We'll do it!" "Good," said Glimmer. "I shall transport you at once." I thought I heard a dog barking. I was right.

Chapter four- Dream world

We were standing on a large plain. There were flowers all around us, and there, barking loudly was Bouncer. "Uh-oh." I said, hardly daring to believe it. Rachel didn't look too pleased either. None of us did. "Ditto," replied Sara. "Double ditto," added Jessica. "Triple trouble," agreed Mimi. We were silent for a minute. Glimmer appeared behind us. "You'll have to split up but I will-"she stopped talking for a minute, staring at Bouncer. "Oh dear..." this IS a problem... Well you'll have to take him with you. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yes, I'll give you connection pendants. They allow you to talk to each other- even if you are miles apart, even if you go to different worlds."

Next she told us which fairies we'd be tracking. As she did so, she handed us our connection pendants, a small glass with a stone in, and a ring. The ring had a dim yellow stone inside. I looked at the glass and the pendants. They too had yellow stones. But theirs were brighter. I was to be tracking the light fairy, Sara the earth, Rachel the air, Mimi the water and Jessica the fire.

"The glass is for trapping the souls. Once you are finished, press the stone in the middle to return here, I will be waiting. The ring shows how close you are to your fairy. The brighter the stone, the closer the soul."

"Great, but where do we start?" asked Mimi. Glimmer smiled. "You start, my friends- You start where your soul leads you." And all of a sudden I was engulfed in a whirling mass of light.

Chapter five- Dreamer's cloud.

When I awoke I was lying on something white. I stood up. I was on a cloud. It was rather large cloud. A signpost beside me read "Dreamers cloud." "This is a pretty weird dream," I thought. All of a sudden I remembered that this was not a dream. Memories of the spirit keeper and the pendant flew back to me. The pendant! I could talk to Sara! But wait- how do we work it? She hadn't told us. I wrinkled my forehead. Sara had the earth pendant, so maybe....

"Earth." I said, looking at the pendant. In it I saw Sara's face. "Sara! Are you OK?" I asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. But I'm not sure where I am. It's paradise here. What about you?" she replied. "Heaven knows, I'm up on some cloud." I giggled. So did Sara. "Help!" She said. Her face disappeared and she was gone. "Sara! Sara! Are you there?" I panicked.

Uh-oh. I thought. I better call the others and tell them what happened. But who first? I decided to call Rachel, as I liked her second best to Sara. "Air." I called. Nothing happened. I tried Jessica. I tried Mimi. Not a peep. "Hello..." I heard a sly voice say. I turned around to see a fairy dressed in dark purple and black. I had a feeling this wasn't the light fairies soul. Then my mind went blank.

Chapter Six- Kidnapped!

I woke in a cell. The fairy was standing in front of me. She was laughing a cold laugh. It was shrill, coming from her head, spiralling out her mouth, teasing me by flying round the room like a flock of bats, swimming round my head and bouncing off the walls. I put my head between my knees and covered my ears, wishing that time itself would stop. The fairy stopped laughing. "I suppose you're wondering what happened to all your little friends? All locked up!" she cackled.

I felt like my world was sinking away into a bottomless pit. I groaned. "Uh-oh." I thought. I heard footsteps. She was gone. Phew. I tugged at my chains. Darn. It was solid steel. I looked out through the barred window. I saw Sara, lying eyes open, looking at the fairy. I looked through the other side. Rachel was curled up, asleep, mumbling something I couldn't hear.

"Rachel! Psst! Wake up!" I whispered. Rachel's eyes flickered open. "Hmm....?" she said dreamily. Then all of a sudden she looked like she came back to earth (or whatever it's called, the forgotten world or something,) she blinked and then said "So, has Double Dark come to you yet or is she going the other way?"
"She's come to me. She's on Sara now. Is there any-one next to you on the other side?" I asked. "Yeah, Jessica, and I can see through her window and Mimi's there. They're both asleep though." I saw "Double Dark" as she was now christened leave Sara's room. "Can you wake the other two up? I need to tell Sara something." I told her. "Sure thing." She said, rattling her chains. "Ouch!" She cried.

"Sara! Sara! Are you there? Use the pendant to talk to me." Then I had an idea. I whispered "Earth, Fire, Water and air," into my pendant. I saw the faces of Sara, Jessica, Mimi and Rachel Peering through my pendant.

"Wow, Sunflower! You did a chain link!" exclaimed Jessica. "Yeah I did. Anyway, here's one not-so-incredibly-simple-problem. How in the forgotten world are we getting out of here?" I replied. They, or should I say their heads, looked thoughtful. "I don't know. But one thing I'm sure about is that no matter what. Is everyone with me?" Sara said strongly. "No matter what!" we all said.

Chapter seven-The great escape

"Wait a minute!" I exclaimed. "Who's got Bouncer?" "I have, unfortunately. He's a right old pain in the leg." Rachel grimaced. "Woof!" barked Bouncer. "Well that explains that," said Sara. "But-"suddenly her face went pale and she muttered "Double D. Switch off your pendants." And we all immediately did so.

It wasn't long before Double Dark came to me. I decided to pretend to be asleep. She passed me, and I saw the others pretending too. I heard the last door shut, (I'd been counting,) and my friends' faces appeared again. "So," said Rachel. "What were you saying Sara?"

"I was asking how we are going to get out of here." Sara answered. I suddenly had and idea. "Maybe we can use Bouncer." I said, grinning. "Maybe he can be a distraction!"

"That's a great idea, Sunflower!" said Jessica. "I have just one question. How, exactly are we doing this?" I grinned. "Here's the plan. Rachel gets Bouncer to bark loudly. I've found my old picklock, so I'll let myself out and Sara. While Bouncer is barking, I throw the picklock through the window. You unlock yourself and toss to Jess. Jess throws it to Mimi. Then you throw it all the way back to me, I unlock all the doors. And then-"I paused. "And then we run."

Chapter eight- Easier said than done.

Bouncer was barking. Good. My mind raced with hundreds of thoughts. My Picklock. How was I supposed to get it out? I tugged and my chains, and jerked my body so I could reach my pocket. It hurt, but I didn't care. I pulled the picklock out, (It was actually a pin from my mum's sewing) and fumbled with it in my hand.

After what seemed like ages my hands were free. I peered through Sara's window. "Psst! Sara! Here!" I threw her the pin and she caught it. "Thanks..." She mumbled. Sara looked like she was trying really hard, but she really couldn't do it. Eventually I sighed and told her to throw it back to me and we would come round to her at the end.

So I got the pin back and threw it to Jessica. She was really quick and got it through in seconds. I frowned. She had the hard bit now. While the dark fairy screamed at the Bouncer, (Which was a bit silly, because it just made him bark more, poor thing) Rachel put a finger to her lips and crept round the back. She passed the pin to the next window. Very soon, it was passed back to me. I used it to unlock my door.

I know what you're thinking. Well whoop-de-doo, that was a bit easy. But we haven't done it all yet. We still have to get out of here, remember? And rescue Sara.

I crept out the doorway, feeling major nervous. What if she caught me? I'd be shoved back in the cell, or worse. Creeping to Sara's door, I shoved the pin into the keyhole and twiddled it around.
The door opened, revealing Sara huddled in a corner, sniffing. I was confused. This wasn't like Sara. She was normally so headstrong! Shy, but headstrong all the same.

I walked towards her. "C'mon, Sara, we've got to get out of here," I whispered. Sara stood up, not saying a word. Tears streamed down her cheeks, yet she did not speak. But there was nothing I could do.
Sara followed me out the door, and I locked it after us. Then we went to Jess, (we thought we'd do Rachel last,) next to Mimi, and then, finally to Rachel.

"Here comes the hard part," I muttered as I opened the door as quietly as I could. "You stay out here 'till I call." And I slipped in before they could argue. Quickly I slipped in and grabbed Bouncer by the collar. He whined and Double D looked furious!

"Why I ought to-" she stopped in mid-sentence. She screamed. "I'll take your bones out, I will-" but it was too late. "Now!" I yelled, and my friends came in, screaming and yelling back. (Maybe they went a bit over the top!) We raised our hands and did Jessica's favourite spell, (she's superstitious,) and the dark fairy screamed and disappeared in a puff of smoke. And before I had time to say thanks, I was once again whirled round and round in light.

Chapter nine- some-one please pinch me!

I woke and looked at my ring. It was bright- very bright. That must mean I was near. My heart leapt with excitement as I saw a tiny spark dancing on and off the ring. I got out my glass and made a snatch for it. But it was moving further away now. I followed it to the edge of the cloud I was on and made another grab. Then I was falling down, down, down. I heard the tinkle of breaking glass.

Chapter ten- Goodbye dream world

I woke and looked to my side. The glass was intact. Cracked, but intact Above me were blurry faces. "Sssh!" whispered some-one. "She's waking up!" "How...." I mumbled. "I fixed the glass. And you five saved the world!" said Glimmer. "Now, if you could get ready...." We stood in a circle with Bouncer in the middle. Then we were back at Rachel's house.

"Girls! Teatime!" yelled Rachel's dad. "Fairies-" I said, grinning. "They are Complete and utter genuises. So there you have it. We saved the world. Who knows, maybe we'll do it again sometime.
