nce upon a time, there were three turtles that were the best of friends, Mitch, Joey, and Benjie. They would watch cartoons, play sports, and play with each other at recess. They were always together. One day, they were swimming in the pond, playing Marco Polo, then, Mitchís little sister came out and told him he had to come in because his family thought they had won the lottery. Mitch said to Joey and Benjie, ì I gotta go! I think my family won the lottery! Iíll see you tomorrow at school!î The next day at school, all the kids were gathered around Mitch after hearing stories he had won the lottery. There were the rich kids, the jocks, and the normal kids. Joey and Benjie got pushed all the way to the back of the group and wondered when they would get to congratulate their friend. During lunch Mitch sat with all the jocks, and at recess he played with the rich and cool kids. Benjie and Joey wondered why Mitch wasnít playing with them. After school, Mitch walked home with two kids he had met that day. Benjie and Joey didnít talk much on the way home; they were too busy thinking if Mitch would ever talk to them again. Benjie went to Joeyís house to watch cartoons, but it was different because he usually made the cartoons even funnier by making faces. They still stayed there just in case Mitch came back. Mitch never showed up. For a whole week Joey and Benjie didnít talk to Mitch. One day after school Joey and Benjie decided to go and talk to Mitch. He already had friends at his house though. Joey and Benjie were so mad and embarrassed, they just left. Joey and Benjie decided just to play with each other, and forget about Mitch because he probably wouldnít come back. The next day at school, Joey and Benjie were surprised to see that Mitch wasnít sitting with anybody at lunch. They asked somebody why no one was sitting with him. They said, ìMitch didnít really win the lottery. There was a mix-up.î Joey and Benjie were still mad at Mitch for not playing with them and forgetting that they were best friends. After school that day Joey and Benjie noticed that Mitch was walking home alone. When they got to Joeys house they talked about maybe giving Mitch a second chance. They remembered the times they swam in the pool, played at recess, and watched cartoons together. They remembered the times when they walked home together and all the fun they had. They agreed that they should talk to Mitch at school the next day and asked him if they wanted to be friends again. After having a snack, Joey and Benjie decided to go swimming in the pond. When they got there they saw Mitch was already there swimming alone. They asked him if he wanted to play Marco Polo with them, he said okay, and from that day on they knew they would be best friends for life |
