"I Need an Egg!"
by

O
nce upon a time, there was a fox named Jorge. Jorge was a good fox, and he always followed the rules. Because of this, he saw no reason to oblige when his mother asked him to fetch an egg for breakfast. Besides, he thought, how hard could it be to fetch a measly egg?
Jorge scrounged up some money from his room, then set off in the direction of the abandoned farm in which Jesse Hen lived.
When Jorge arrived, Jesse declined his offer for money.
ìHowever,î she told him, ìif you can bring me some of those scrumptious mushrooms Danny Mole grows, Iíd be more than happy to give you an egg.î
Jorge soon found himself at Danny Moleís dwelling out in the flatlands. Danny agreed to give his friend a few of his famous mushrooms if he would bring him a blue stone from the jungle temple. As he left, Jorge muttered, îIím not surprised he wants one, it will match his shiny coat. Those things are blinding!î
Since practically no one could go through the temple without getting lost, Jorge decided to ask ëTemple Guardí Panther to retrieve a blue stone for him. He knew the temple like the back of his paw. Yet again, Jorge had to trek off in another direction, as the phony guard wanted a few glass beads in exchange for the stone.
ìI shall give you five glass beads in exchange for your three silver piecesî, said the otter peddler when Jorge arrived.
ìDeal!î shouted Jorge. He slammed the money on the table, eager to finish this long series of trades plaguing him.
Jorge ran so fast that he was panting when he got to the temple. Panther traded the beads for the stone, then Jorge was off like lightning. He gave the stone to Danny, who gave him the mushrooms, which he then gave to Jesse, who gave him the egg in return. Jorge cracked the egg into his motherís pan, but thenÖ
ìUm, Jorge, I appreciate you helping me, butÖ I was going to hard-boil that egg.î
ìUh-oh!î exclaimed Jorge, gulping. îHere we go again!î
