nce upon a time in a small village, in Central Java, lived a family with two daugthers. One was Bawang Merah and the other one was Bawang Putih. Bawang putih's mother had already passed away when she was still a baby and then her father married another woman. This woman has a daugther, Bawang Merah.

Bawang Merah and her mother didn't like Bawang Putih at all. That's why they always ask her to do house works every day. Sometimes they bit her if she forgot to do what they asked.

One day there was a prince who accidently came to the village because he forgot the way back to his castle. He met Bawang Putih who was washing her clothes near a small river. He asked her which way he should take to go back to his castle. Bawang Putih was just about to answer his question, suddenly Bawang Merah came and yell at her and asked her to go home immediatly. Bawang was so envy to see her step sister was talking to a prince.

The prince pretended that he did not see what Bawang Merah did to her sister. He asked Bawang Merah if he could came to her house. Bawang Merah was so happy and they went to her house. She introduced him to her mother. When the prince wanted to meet Bawang Putih, they told him that Bawang Putih was in the woods. The prince knew if they were lying.

Suddenly, her father arrived. The prince told him that he needed to find a way back home to his castle and asked nicely if he could bring Bawang Putih to his castle to become his princess. The prince told father that Bawang Putih was a kind hearted girl and after all this time her step mother and step sister did not treat her right. Father was so angry to hear that. But he was also very happy to hear that prince wanted to bring her daugther to his castle. He let Bawang Putih to go with Prince.

The next morning father went to the castle to attend a party to celebrate Bawang putih and Prince wedding Party. And they lived together in big and beautiful castle.
