"The Innocent"

T
he entire town of Dodge City was empty except for Sheriff Sherman, and me, who is known as Wild Will. I am really not a bad guy but was framed for the shooting of the previous sheriff known as John Wayne.

Meanwhile, every second that I wasted trying to escape Sherman, the real culprit, dangerous Danny, was getting much closer to his real plan which I have yet to uncover.

"Get back here Will," yelled Sherman.

I launched myself over the top of a cattle fence into someone's ranch. It was there that I first spotted Danny. Danny was really a rustler trying to steal the herd of cattle from this poor rancher. Somehow I had to get the sheriff over here without Danny noticing or Sherman shooting at me.

I decided to run back into town and jump the sheriff. When he rounded the corner to go back into his office I would throw him down to the ground and tell what I had just saw. With a giant thud! The sheriff fell very hard to the ground.

"Please listen to me Sherman," I pleaded, "I know who shot John Wayne. It was Danny and right now he is trying to steal old Farmer Joe's herd of cattle.
I released my hand from his mouth.

"Get off of me," the sheriff said as I got off of him, "Well don't just stand there lead me to him."

So I led him to the farm where I had seen Danny. Unfortunately he must have seen me before, because he jumped out and fired a gun shot towards Sherman. I used all my physical and mental strength to jump directly in the line of fire and take the bullet instead of Sherman. With that I fell to the ground in a puddle of my own blood. Another shot and Danny was dead.

"I am so sorry I didn't believe you before," Sherman said.

"Argh...ugh...it...okay," I said, "Just tell...the rest...of...town that...I am the...innocent one," and with that I the famous Wild Will left this world to go to another world.
