o way," I mamed. "Yup really, the cruise was rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 12:00, replied Chris (one of my friends who was going to go on the cruise with me). "Why?" I asked. "They had too many people that were complaining that they couldn't go tomorrow, so for the sake of the complainers they rescheduled it," Chris explained. "That still works for my calander," I signed relieved. "Same with me." Chris replied. "So, I guess I'll see you there at 12:00 sharp," called Chris as he started to walk away. "Okay," I called back. I picked up my backpack and started to stroll with my head down toward my house. "OK I can get up at 7:30 and then have some Frosted Flakes for breakfast. Then I can get dressed and go outside. I'll shoot some hoops until 9:30 and then I'll go in again. I can get packed up then and that should take me to about 11:30. Then, I'll get into my mustang and get over to the port. When I got to my house I swang open the door quick, hung up my backpack, jumped down the steps, rushed into the garage, grabed a basketball and hurled outside to shoot some hoops. Suddenly, my mom called me from inside. "Heath do you any homework?" "No, but only because of the cruise tomorrow." I answered. "Ok." she replied as she shut down the window. After a while of exercise, I went back inside and started to write down a list for what to pack (using some help from my mom). When I was about on the 8th item the dinner bell rang. "Time for dinner," my sister yelled. After dinner I finished my list and by that time it was time for bed. That night seemed like five years because I was so excited. When morning finally came I did my morning routine I had thought of the day before. Finally, the time came. The place was packed with people of all shapes and sizes. When me and Chris finally found each other and had gotten on the boat it was already 1:00 P.M. The day went as slow as a tortoise. Once we were done unpacking, we had a blast! There was a pool on the boat and boy oh boy was that fun until it happend... The tragedy went liek this, Chris thought there was a long ledge on the boat, but there really wasn't. He was just trying to get a good running start for a jump. It was hopeless. Chris fell into the water. The lifeguard tryed to save him with his skills, but Chris's fingers slipped away helplessly. When I finally got up all my courage I jumped. There was nothing else to do. We watched the ship until it faded out of sight. There was finally anther ship nearby! We yelled and we yelled, but the ship started to turn away. I yelled one final last minute phrase to the boat. "Help us please!" The boatman must have heard me because he turned around in a matter of 15 minutes and he picked us up. Both of us were relieved that the boat had been there and we thanked the boatman for picking us up. I did it, I thought, I saved Chris's life with a last minute life! |
