"I want a friend."

O
nce upon a time, there was a child, named Nathaniel, 7 years old, who wanted something. Nathaniel didn't have any friends. He did not know what he wanted, but it was something specific. He spent 8 years just trying to figure out what he wanted. He just couldn't. Everyday he wondered, "What do I want?" But the answer never got to him.

Then one day along came a boy who had everything in the world. This boy was named Vivek and wanted to help Nathaniel. He showed Nathaniel everything he had. Nothing worked. Absolutely nothing. Not even a Game Cube, or XBox. Nathaniel didn't want any of those things. Soon, Nathaniel and Vivek became great friends. Suddenly Nathaniel started to lose that feeling that he had been having for 8 years. It seemed to him that he had gotten that special something that he wanted to have so badly. All his toys were still the same. All his games were still the same. All his family was still the same. He just couldn't find out what he had gotten.

Then Vivek had to leave. His dad found a better job somewhere else. After his friend left, Nathaniel started to get the feeling again. This time it was the old feeling mixed with a sense of loss. He felt that he had found the something and then lost it again. Then, he figured it out -It was a friend- that was what he wanted.

He had to find a friend, but no one wanted to be his friend because he was poor. Vivek was the only one who called him a friend, ever. Vivek had looked on the inside, the heart, and the personality of Nathaniel. He was the real friend, decided Nathaniel. He found out Vivek's address. They started to communicate through mail. They were friends again, and this time, to stay friends forever.
