13 year old Anna Herp knelt in the prickly bushes, watching indian children playing in the water nearby. She often watched her new friend, Speaking Snow, collecting beads for a . The wer always blue and red and once she noticed her looking for gold ones.
"Swee loop!" Speaking Snow suddenly appeared behind her. "You are well this morning, no?" She asked, proud to be speaking in english.
"Yes very well. Have you more beads for your ?"
"Hur, I don't need any more. Come, I will show you my beautiful ." I got up from my perch in the pine needles and dry leaves. Soon small huts came into veiw. Speaking Snow went into one, and came out with a gorgous blue and red . Five gold beads were at the very end, red and blue all over the rest.
"I made for you, my weeple." She smiled, leaving me gasping.
"No, this took to long!"
"Yes, I will put it on you." So around my neck it went, tying in the back with deerskin. I smiled, my friend had given me an ! I had waited so long for one, and one that special was unexplainable!
When I arrived at our little , mamma had and ! She told me that we were to have a special party with all the indians!
