"The Three Trees"

O
nce upon a time, there were three little trees sitting on a mountain top. They were thinking of what they wanted to be when they grew up. The first tree wanted to be a beautiful treasure chest. The second tree wanted to be a ship fit for kings. The third tree did not want to leave the mountain top. He wanted to be the tallest tree in the world. The third wanted to grow tall so when people looked at him they would remember God. Many years went by and the trees grew tall. And one day three woodcutters came and wanted to cut down the trees. The first tree couldn't wait to become a treasure chest. The second tree couldn't wait to become a ship. The third tree's dreams had ended; he never thought he would be cut down. The first tree didn't become a treasure chest he became a feedbox for animals. The second tree didn't become a first class ship, he became a tiny fishing boat. The third tree became beams of wood and was left at a lumber yard. Many years passed, and on one special night a bright light shone down on the first tree. When a woman put her newborn baby in the feedbox, he knew he was holding the greatest treasure in the world. One day the second tree was sailing with many men on the waters when a bad storm arose. One man stood up and raised his hands and said "Peace" and the storm was over. The one Friday morning the third tree was surprised when two of his beams were carried through an angry crowd. He felt sad when someone was nailed to it. Sunday morning, the sun rose and the third tree got his wish. From then on, every time people would think of the third tree they would think of God.

The End
