これはわたしたちが生まれるずっとずっと前のお話。あるところにラガンシュナという名前の神様がいました。ある日、神様はとてもおなかをすかせていました。

そこでラガンシュナはようせいに、食べ物を持ってくるようにといいました。ラガンシュナは今か今かと、首を長くして待っていましたが、ようせいはなかなかもどってきません。ようやく帰ってきたと思ったら、今度は量がちっとも足りません。ラガンシュナはおこって、ようせいをおりの中へ入れてしまいました。おりの中にはようせいのように、無実のつみで入れられているものもいました。

ラガンシュナは今度はホビットをよびました。ホビットはウサギのすがたをしたようせいです。ラガンシュナはしんらいしているホビットに食べ物をいっぱい持ってくるようにいいました。ホビットは自分のあなにもどって、食事を作り始めました。ホビットはたくさん食べることで知られています。何しろ１日に６食も食べるんですから！ホビットは量の少ない食事がどんなものか、よくわかっていたので、１４匹のホビットが何日も食べられるくらいの食事を作りました。その上、キノコもどっさりいれました。ホビットはキノコが大すき。キノコと聞いたら、もう目がありません。

ホビットはこうして作ったお料理をラグンシャナのところへ持っていきました。ラガンシュナは大よろこび。とたんに良い神様になって、ろうやにいるものを、すべておりから出してあげました。

ホビットの料理に満足したラグンシュナは大きな、大きなゲップをしました。するとそれが大きなじしんとなって、地面がグラグラとゆれました。それからというもの、ラグンシュナがたくさん食べると、じしんがおこるようになりました。

一言：むかしむかしには、ゲップやあくびがお料理を作ってくれたシェフへ、満足だよっていう合図だったのね。

ong ago before any of us were born there was a God who was very hungry named Raganshna.

He called upon an elf to bring him some food. Raganshna waited and waited for what seemed like forever when the elf came to him with some food. There wasn't enough food so he became angry and threw the elf in jail with the other creatures that had been wrongfully accused.

Raganshna called upon a hobbit who he knew and trusted well and said bring me some food and it must be filling. The hobbit went to his hobbit hole to make a meal. Hobbits are known for eating an extremley large amount of food and have about 6 feasts a day. The hobbit knowing how it felt not to have enough food made so much food that he could feed 14 hobbits there day's worth of feasts. He especially made sure he had extra mushrooms yum!!(Hobbits are quite fond of mushrooms and are so greedy with them that their greediness defys even the greediest persons greed.)

He gathered all the food and brought it to Raganshna. ragans! hna was very pleased, so pleased in fact that he set everyone free from his jails and became immensley nicer.

As a compliment to the hobbit's cooking he let out a huge belch and that is what an earthquake is. Now everytime Raganshna has a filling meal an earthquake occurs.

Note from the author: In the uncivilized times a belch or burp was a compliment to the chef.
