あるところにジャネットとデビーという２人の少女がいました。初めて学校で会ったその日から、２人はたちまちのうちに親友となりました。２人の仲良しぶりには、学校のみんながうらやむほどです。

たった一つ、２人の間でうまくいかないことがあるとすれば、それはデビーがとても勉強ができて、ジャネットは「そこそこ」という点です。ジャネットはいつも気にしていましたが、デビーはそんなこととは思ってもいませんでした。

ある日、最終テストが返されて、デビーはAを、ジャネットはCを取りました。その日からジャネットは、デビーが良い点を自慢しているのではないか、自分をからかうんじゃないかと心配し、デビーのことを無視し始めました。けれどももちろん、デビーはテストの結果を自慢するような女の子ではありません。それどころか、ジャネットの苦手な教科のお手伝いをしようとさえ思っていたのです。けれどもジャネットはデビーと口をききません。デビーはどうしたのかしらと、不思議に思い始めました。デビーが話しかけようとしても、ジャネットはフンと笑って、行ってしまいます。デビーは悲しさのあまり、涙が止まらなくなりました。大切な親友を失ってしまった涙です。

デビーはお母さんに相談しました。お母さんは「２人の間にごかいがあるようね」と、いいました。そしてデビーに「ジャネットに手紙を書いて、あなたの気持ちを伝えてごらんなさい」と、アドバイスしてくれました。デビーは急いで手紙を書くと、それをこっそりジャネットのお母さんに渡しました。

ジャネットが学校からもどると、お母さんがデビーからの手紙を手渡しました。手紙を読んでみて、ジャネットが考えいたような女の子でないことがよく分かりました。そして自分の行いをひどく反省しました。ところがジャネットにはデビーと顔をあわせる勇気がわいてきません。そこでジャネットはおわびの手紙を書いて、会ってくれるようにとたのみました。デビーは親友を失わなかったことを、うれしく思いました。

２人は会って、しっかりとだきあいました。その日から、２人の友情を損なうようなことは一切、起こりません。それどころかこのケンカの後、２人のきずなはいっそう固くなったのです。

here were two girls by name janet and debbie. they both were best friends right from first day of their school. they both were so good friends that each and everyone from their school admired their friendship.

But only thing that could ever create a quarrel between them was debbie was very scholar while janet was an average in studies. janet always felt this but debbie never even thought of such a thing.

once their final results were announced debbie had scored A grade while janet c. from that day janet began to ignore debbie thinking that she would be proud of her good marks and would also tease her. but debbie had never even thought of such a thing. instead she had decided to help janet with her difficulties. but after the day of result janet hadn't even spoken to her. she wondered about janet's strange behaviour. whenever debbie went to speak to janet she scorned and went away. that day debbie felt very bad she cried a lot for she feared that she would lose her good friend of her's.

she spoke to her mother about this problem. her mother said that there's some misunderstanding between janet and her. she adviced debbie to write a letter to janet and ask if there some problem between her and janet. she did accordingly. while returning from school she handed it secretly to janet's mother and asked her to give it to janet.

when janet returned home her mother handed her the letter. she took it and when she read it she felt that debbie was not the type of girl she thought. she repented on her behaviour. but now she did'nt had guts to face debbie after such a bad behaviour of her's. she suddenly thought of an idea. she wrote a letter and apologised debbie and asked her to meet her. debbie felt happy after all she had not lost her friend.

When they met they hugged each other tightly. from that day onwards nothing ever came between their friendship. they became more fast friends after this incident.
