"Why? It Feels Surreal."
by
Lindsay

In a time of war
I must ask why?
Why do innocent people have to die?
and why don't some stop to cry?
Why are there people
killing at will
and why do they murder
is it just for a cheap thrill?

So many lives taken
At such an unjust time
In a place that now appears forsaken.
It is such a shame
So much bloodshed
and no assurance of who to blame.
Death and destruction
covers the ground
So much pain
is all around.

It feels surreal;
like a nightmare
fighting to awake from
but have to bear
Many are desperately trying
To pick up the pieces
And regain what was
Lost at such a horrible cost
In this time our nation is searching for hope
And trying hard to cope
While looking for the light at the end
Of this dark tunnel that never stops its bend.

War is soon to come
Knocking,
Knocking at our door
what is the point
in going to war?
Until this moment
I was unsure of what we were fighting for.
But now I see
how much fear there can be
and that we must now remember
each innocent fatality.

Our nation now must fight
and retaliate with might
we must never back down.
Our nation must not give up
without a fight.
And during war
I will try not to cry
But I will still ask
my endless question of why
why this had to happen
to such a great nation.
Why did so many innocent people have to die?
from the wrath of someone
consumed of pure hatred
towards our nation.

The End
