「カティエ！起きなさい！」と、ママが耳元でさけびました。カティエはまだゆめの中。くすくすわらいながら、よだれまでたらしています。ママはカティエの目ざまし時計を鳴らしました。カティエは、ぱっと目がさめました。

「もう、学校に行く時間ですよ！」と、ママが大声でいいました。

カティエはあわてて服を着ると、飛び出しました。けれども外に出ると、カティエはのんびりと歩き始めました。カティエはおなかがペコペコです。なにか食べるものはないかしら？ポケットにおばさんのくれたおこづかいの入っていることに、気がつきました。そこでドーナツ屋さんに行くと、おこづかいを半分、使ってしまいました。放課後、ママはカティエを図書館で勉強させようと思っていました。けれどもカティエは、図書館に行くかわりに、ショッピングモールでのこりのおこづかいの半分を使ってしまいました。それからもう半分で、アイスクリームを買ってしまいました。カティエはその夜、早い時間にねかされました。次の日、カティエは朝早く目がさめました。その日から、カティエは６時半にベッドにはいることになりました。

atie, wake up!!!!" Katie's mother yelled in her ear. Katie, still sleeping, giggled and started drooling. Her mother turned on Katie's alarm clock, and it ringed instantly. Katie awoke in a start.

"Get to school right now!" Her mother yelled.

Katie threw on her clothes and ran out the door. Once outside, Katie walked very slowly. She was hungry, and wanted food now. Then she remebered the emergency money her aunt gave her. Katie went to the donut shop and spent half of the money there. After school, her mother made her go to the library and study. Instead, Katie spent half of the money she had left on the arcade, and the other half on ice cream. Katie got sent to bed early, and the next day she was early. From then on, Katie has been put to bed at 6:30.
