t
was Christmas Eve and I was sitting at the kitchen table slurping
on a soda. My older sister Samantha, known as Sam or Sami, was
on the computer, no suprise. And my dad was sitting on the couch
in front of the boob tube, playing Tetris on our Playsation,
which Samantha introduced to him earler that morning. It was
a typical day at dad's house. It was almost two in the afternoon.
Seven hours till bedtime! I couldn't wait!
I got a Christmas cookie and ate
it. When i finished, I decided to clean the house. I don't know
why, but cleaning is a pasttime to me. By the way, I'm 8-year-old
Dani. I got out the vaccume and cleaned all the floors. I had
to bribe my sister, who is majorly addicted to computers, to
move so I could clean the floor there. We do not have a desk
yet, because we remodeled our house and the shop has not delivered
it yet. Bummer major. I mopped and scrubbed and swept and polished,
sweating, even though here in Florida it was 65 degrees.
I put the mop back in the closet
and loked at the old grandfather clock. "ONLY 3:15!"
I screamed. I was so shocked. Normally it took me 4 hours to
clean the whole house! Dad looked at me very briefly, still playing
tetris, and Samantha said, "Wow, you finally learned how
to tell time!" She was being sarcastic, and I retorted,
"Ooh, looks like someone has learned how to speak! Now just
learn how to breathe and you'll do fine in life!"
I thought my comeback was prety
good, and proudly I went across the street to see Tiffany, my
best pal down here. Though she is 11 and likes Samantha better,
she is cool.
"Oh, hi Dani!" she greeted me. We went on a walk on
the beach with her labrador Pepper, took a ride in her canoe
in the marsh behind her house, and made brownies which were flops.
At 5:00 I said,"Tiff, I gotta run. I'm stopping by Fran's
house. Seeya!"
Fran is our neighbor, a lady who
is very nice and has a good sense of humor. As soon as I got
there, she gave me some sweets and asked how I was. She did my
hair in braids and I left at 8:00 for supper.
We ate a hearty meal of ham, potatoes, and rice, and sang Christmas
carols. After a last mug of hot chocolate, I went to bed.
In the morninig, I woke up at 5.
It was cold, and I peered into the den and all I could see were
gifts!
This is going to be the best Christmas ever! |
