あるペットショップに犬がいました。 けれどもこの子をおうちにつれてかえってってくれる人が、だれもいません。犬はかなしくなりました。犬がきらいな人もいます。犬アレルギーの人もいます。犬のかっこうがきらい、という人もいます。

あるよる、エイミーというなまえのおんなの子が、かぞくといっしょにペットショップにやってきました。エイミーは犬が大すきです。アレルギーでもありません。犬を見ているだけでハッピーになりました。エイミーたちは、オリエンタル犬コーナーに行きました。そこでは、犬のせわをしているラムさんが、エイミーたちに犬を見せてくれました。そこにいたのが、赤と白のニホンチンです。

エイミーのお母さんが、「この犬はどうかしら？ニホンのチンよ」と、いいました。エイミーはだまっていました。

そしてくびをよこにふりました。ラムさんは、つぎにくろと白のチンを見せてくれました。ラムさんがなにかいおうとすると、エイミーがチンを見て、さけびました「うん、うん、うん、うん！！これ、これ！」エイミーはもう、はこをかかえています。みんなでツリーをかって、おうちにかえりました。エイミーは、はこをあけると、チンをそっと、とり出しました。

あたらしい犬がきたときは、まず犬をゆかにおいて、ゆかの上であそばせます。エイミーもそうしてあげました。犬がゆかの上であそんでいるあいだ、エイミーたちは、クリスマスツリーをかざりました。そのよる、ニホンチンはおきあがって、ツリーのところへ行きました。ツリーはきれいなオーナメント（かざり）やライトでいっぱいになっています。エイミーがさけびました！「ダメ、ダメ、ダメ、ダメ！」エイミーのお母さんが、チンをあわててとめました。

「チンにはまだ、クリスマスツリーはまだいらないの」エイミーはニホンチンが大すきになりました。なまえはヨキオといいます。

here was a dog who came from the pet store. Nobody wanted to buy her. She was very sad. Some of the people did'nt like dogs. Most of the people were allergic. Even some people did'nt like their look!

One night, a girl named Amy went to the pet store with her family. She liked dogs, and was never allergic. In fact, she liked their looks. They went to the Oriental Dog Room. The dog keeper named Lam showed them the dogs. He found a red and white Japanese Chin.

"Would you like this dog? It's a Japanese Chin." Amy's mom said. Amy did'nt answer.

"Amy, you like Japanese Chin. Look at the dog."

Amy shook her head no. Lam found a black and white Japanese Chin. Lam was going to say something when Amy looked at the Japanese Chin and yelled out, "Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes!" Amy got to hold the box. When the tree was picked out and home, Amy opened the lid from the box and carefully took it out.

The best thing to do with a new pet dog is to put it on the floor and let it do some floor play. So that was what she did. While the dog did floor play, Amy's family decorated the Christmas tree. That night, the Japanese Chin got up and walked to the tree. It was decorated with beautiful ornaments and lots of things. But Amy screamed, "Oh no, oh no! Sake! Sake! Sake!" Just then, Amy's mom stopped her.

"The Japanese Chin does not need it yet. We'll give it to her in the morning. Amy loves her Japanese Chin. Now she named her Yokio.
