一匹の小ウサギが森の中に住んでいました。
名前はジョン。ジョンは白ウサギです。
今日はクリスマスイブでした。ジョンはクリスマスが大好きです。
なぜって？それはプレゼントがもらえるから！
「今年もステキなプレゼントがほしいな」
ジョンはベッドに入りました。

次の朝、目を覚ますと、ジョンはさっそくクリスマスツリーを見に行きました。
ツリーの下には、大きなプレゼントの箱がおいてあります！
うれしいな、うれしいな！！
プレゼントの中は、ほっぺのとろける特大ケーキ。
ジョンはペロリとケーキを食べてしまうと、考えました。
「もっとたくさんプレゼントがほしいな。。。
そうだ！良い考えがあるぞ！」
ジョンは暖炉へ走って行くと、体中にススをなすりつけました。
たちまち、ジョンは黒ウサギに変身です。ジョンはお外に出かけました。

外に出ると、ジョンはサンタクロースがいないかと、あたりを見回しました。「あ、いた、いた！」
ジョンはサンタさんに呼びかけました。
「サンタさん、こんにちは。ぼく、まだプレゼントをもらっていないよ。ねえ、プレゼントをちょうだいよ！」
「おや、それは悪かったね。でも今はプレゼントを持っていないんだ。ちょっと待っておくれ。このサンドイッチはどうかね。わしのお昼ごはんなんだが。。。」
「うん、それでいいよ。ありがとう。サンタさん」と、ジョンはいいました。ジョンはちょっぴり残念でしたが、それでもサンドイッチをきれいに食べてしまいました。

ジョンはそれから白ウサギにもどろうと、体のススをブラシでいっしょうけんめいこすりました。
ところがススは取れません。ジョンは悲しくなってきました。
あ！良いアイデアがあるぞ！」ジョンはそう言うと、雪の中へ飛び込みました。だいぶ白くなったかな？
ジョンはもう１回、雪の中へジャンプしました。これでススはすっかり落ちました。ジョンは安心して、「もう２度とウソはつかないぞ。こんなことは、もう絶対にしないんだ」と、いいました。

ジョンはそれから、良い子のウサギになりました。

little rabbit lives in the forest.
His name is John. He is a white rabbit.
It's Christmas Eve today. He likes Christmas because
he can get very nice presents.
"I want a nice present this year...." said John.
And he goes to bed.

Next day,he gets up and looks at the
Christmas tree. There is a big present box!
He was very happy.
The present is a big yummy cake.
He eats all of them,but he thinks "I want more present ...
Oh,I have a good idea!"
He runs to the fire place,and puts some soot on his body.
Then he turns into a black rabbit.And he goes outside.
He looks for Santa Claus. "Oh, there he is." said John.
He calls Santa. "Hello,Santa! I didn't get any presents.
Please give me a present!" Santa said,"oh, I'm sorry,but
I don't have any presents now....Oh, wait a minute.
How about this sandwitch? It's my lunch."
"That's O.K.Good-bye Santa."said john.
He feels disappointed,but he eats that sandwitch.

And he thinks he wants to be back to a white rabbit.
So he brushes his body's soot,but he can't take it off.
He feels sad.
"Oh, I have an idea!"
He runs into the snow. The soot is taken away .
He runs into it again. There is no soot on his body.
He gets relieved. "I think I won't tell a lie any more .I'll never do such a thing."

And he becomes a good rabbit.
