ne
day Sarah White jumped out of bed with a start because she realized
that it was only one more week of practice before she was to
leave for the Olympics! Sarah was the only gymnast in the family.
Everyone was happy for her.
She put on her gymnastics clothes,
and walked over to the gym. When she got there, the coach showed
her the routine she would be doing in the Olympics. Her best
event was the bars. Second, she liked the trampoline, a new event
this year. The hardest routine that she was going to do was the
one on the bars.
Her outfit was dark blue and silver
with sparkles all over. Then she got to work practicing the routine.
After she got home, her mother said
she had some bad news for Sarah. She said that she would not
be able to go to the Olympics with her. No one else in the family
was able to go either. They had school and work, and she would
not be able to earn any money while she was away. They needed
the money from her mother's job because her Grandmother was sick
and needed some very expensive medicine. Sarah was upset. She
knew she could not go to the Olympics if she did not have an
adult with her. She went to bed without any dinner.
The next day, Sarah's mother told
her that she and her father had found some customers in Australia,
that they could contact. If the customers panned out, they could
go to Austrailia and work, and still see her in the Olympics.
Also, they had gotten permission for her brother to be out of
school for a week, so he could come too. Sarah was overjoyed.
She did a flip in midair.
"With that kind of performance, you will definitely win!",
said her mother. And that's exactly what she did. |
