"The Worst and Best Day of My Life"

Iknew I was in trouble, and the rest of the pod of Killer Whales would be furious with me. Everyone was depending of me, and it was my one chance to prove that I wasn't little, and that I really could show potential, but I blew it!
Everyone in the entire Pod Kingdom was counting on me to complete an important yet very simple task that I was given to complete. As of now, I'm sitting in my room wandering how long it would be until my parents disowned me.
My entire predicament started yesterday. I was at school playing and learning with my peers; a bright eyed set of guppies, and a few whales. The principal called me down to the office, and with a little fear in my eyes, I swam over to see what I was being beckoned for. The principal gave me the simple task of delivering an urgent letter to the leader of the sea, the king of all creatures in his wide spread domain: Poseidon. The letter said that an invader group of Tiger Sharks were coming to take over his kingdom, and inside was a plan to stop them. The Sharks are a group of tyrants, and they take over places with force.
"Now, go immediately after school, and deliver this letter." the principal said.

The only problem, is I forgot about the letter, and went to play a game with my friends. By the time the king found out, we didn't have enough time to set up our plan, and it was all my fault.

"Knock, knock, knock," someone tapped of the door. The whale at the door had informed me that my punishment was to confront the evil tyrannizers, and set things straight. I gulped down my fear and got up to face my opponent.
It was scheduled for the sharks and I to have a meeting at fourteen hundred hours. As I went into the room my body trembled with fear, as of that moment, the weight of the sea was to be carried on my shoulders.
After talking with the sharks for - oh, about half a second, they were ready to set off to attack, and I was ready to set off to retreat. Then, a marvelous idea popped into me head. Sharks may be strong, but I can outsmart them, just as Athens did to Sparta in Greece, like we're studying in school. If I could just come up with a riddle, I could probably defeat them.
"All right, I have a proposition!" I firmly stated, "I will ask you a riddle, and you have two chances to get it right. If you correctly answer it, you can do what you like with us, if not, you must promise to set us free."

The sharks agreed, and I told them my riddle, "In marble walls as white as milk, lined with a skin as soft as silk, lies a fountain crystal clear, doth a golden apple appear. No doors are to this strong-hold, yet things break in and steal the gold."
The sharks were dumbfounded, and pondered my question for a moment. After about twenty guesses instead of two, they gave up. The tiger sharks wanted to know the answer, but first I made them sign a contract stating in front of the king saying they must leave us be.

The eager sharks begged to be told the answer, and I replied, "An egg." As I finished my reply, the sharks went away forever. I had suffered my consequences and had become a hero all in one day. From now on, I think I better keep my head on straight, and remember that I have must develop responsibility. These thoughts rushed through my head as a smirk came upon my face, and I waved good-bye to the Tiger Sharks.
