空は青くて、雪は真っ白。山のてっぺんがきれいに見えそうです。昨日の夜は大雪が降りましたが、今日の空は晴れわたっています。
「そんなにたくさんのお願いはないけどな」と、ジェフがつぶやきました。
「なだれにならないと、いいけどな」と、ゴーゲイが顔をしかめました。
「変な想像をするなよ」と、ジェフがいいました。
「分かってるよ。でも、もし」と、ゴーゲイがもぐもぐといいました。
「よし！」と、校長先生の声がゴーゲイをさえぎりました。「みんなもうスキーに出かけていいぞ。迷子にならないようにな」しぶるゴーゲイをジェフが急がせます。とうとう２人は山に向かって、出発しました。２時間後、ジェフは松の木の下にすわって、サンドイッチを食べだしました。ジェフの金色のかみの毛は汗でぬれていました。ゴーゲイもジェフのとなりにすわりました。メガネが陽の光に反射して、雪をとかし始めました。その時、足元の地面がゆれ始めました。それはなだれの振動のようでした。。。。
he sky was blue and the snow, white. The mountain tops were nearly visible and it was clear that alot of snow had fallen the night before.
"Not too much I hope," murmered Jeff
" I hope there won't be an avalanche," said Gorgey frowning,
" Don't be so imaginetive Gorgey," said Jeff
" Yeah, but what if......" murmered Gorgey
" Right" the voice of the warden interrupted him, " you may go now and ski but don't gat lost." Gorgey was rather reluctant but Jeff urged him on. Finally they went off into the mountains.Two hours later Jeff sat down under a pine cone and started to eat his sandwich. His golden her was mattered and wet form persperation. Gorgey sat down next to him, his glasses reflected the sunshine which was starting to melt the snow. An odd tremble went through the ground at their feet. Far off was the dis trumbling of an avalanche......
