y mom always told me to keep every single promise I make. And I finally understand why.
It was a hot summer afternoon and I wanted to go outside and play baseball with my best friend Katie. I put on my sneakers, grabbed my baseball glove and a ball and ran out the door."I'll be back before supper mom!" I shouted to my mother.
"Hi Katie" I shouted across the street"
"Hey McKenzie" She replied.Katie walked over to me and we started throwing around the baseball. Then we practiced hitting the ball with my brand new baseball bat. I just got it for my birthday a month ago. I haven't used it yet though, the weather hasn't exactly been the greatest. It was around four oclock in the afternoon and I had promised my mom I'd be back soon so I'd better go. "See yah later Katie" I said.
"But Mckenzie....who am I going to play with?"
"I don't know Katie. Call on Lillian or something"
"But I want to play with you."
"Well Katie, I'll tell you what. I'll come back out at EXACTLY 5:30. and then we'll have lots of time to play before dark."
"You promise McKenzie?"
"Yeah Kayla. I promise."I arrived home and I saw my mom all dressed up. I asked her why she was all dressed and she said: "We're going out to MUDDY DUCKS for supper" Muddy ducks was my absolute favourite place to eat in the whole wide world! "Yeah!" I screamed. "When will we be back?" I asked my mom.
"I don't know....around 7:00"
"7:00?" I asked. "But I promised Katie I'd go out and play with her."
"Well we can go to Muddy Ducks some other time dear." my mom said."NO!!!!!" I wanna go now"
"Okay then lets go."When I got home, it was late and I saw Katie sitting on the side of the road crying because I didn't come out to play. I learned my lesson. Never make promises you can't keep! Katie eventually forgave me because she's a good friend. And we played all day together the next day. But I'll never forget that moment when my heart just dropped when I saw mybest friend cry because of something I did. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR PROMISES!!!!!
