このお話はテレビ番組、Two of a kind（ふたごの姉妹）をもとに作りました。わたしはふたごのひとり、メリー・ケイトのつもりで書いています。
「空港でロスに会うのに、そのドレスを着ていくわけじゃないでしょうね、アシュレイ？」
ふたごの妹、アシュレイはクルッと体を回すと、かがみの中を見つめました。そして「他に着るものがないもの！」と、さけびました。
ボーイフレンドのロスと空港で会うことは、アシュレイにとって大切なイベントです。ロスはとても遠くに住んでいます。アシュレイがロスに会えるのは、わたしたちが寄宿学校でニューイングランドにいる時だけ。けれども今はクリスマスのお休みです。ロス・ランバートはしんせきをたずねて、シカゴに来ているのです。アシュレイはロスとランチを食べることになっていました。アシュレイはとうとう緑色のベルベットのタートルネックセーターと黒のミニスカート、それから厚手の黒のタイツと黒いブーツで出かけることにしました。そして下に走って降りていくと、パパに空港まで車で送ってくれるよう、たのみました。パパは飛行機が着くまであと５時間以上はあるから、ジェニファー・ディルバートに来てもらったらと、いいました。わたしはキッチンから、そっとのぞいていました。パパとケリーは最近デートしています。１０月くらいからかしら？なんだか変だけど、でもステキだなとも思う。もしパパが結婚するんだったら、ケリーがいいな。２人はすわって、コーヒーをすすっていました。そしてたいていは、パパかケリーがわらっていました。２人ともいっしょがいい感じです。それにちかってもいいけど、わたしが寄宿学校にもどるころには、ケリーはミセス・ケビン・バークになっているはず。
その日の夜、わたしは明日のことを計画していました。２人のためのロマンチックなディナーです。キャンドル、ミュージック。したくはディナーの時間までに、かんぺきにできあがりました。パパとケリーはとてもステキなディナーを終えて、映画を見始めました。その時、パパがいいました。
「ケリー、とても大切な質問があるんだ。結婚してくれる？」
ケリーはイスから転げ落ちそうになりました。そしてようやく「ええ、ええ、そうね」と、答えました。とうとう本当になったのです！パパはケリーの指にダイヤモンドの指輪をはめました。クリスマス・イブ、わたしたちは新しいママを迎えます。

"You're not going to wear THAT to greet Ross at the airport, are you Ashley?" My twin sister, Ashley, spun around quickly, and looked in the mirror. "I have nothing to wear!" she shouted.
Meeting her boyfriend Ross at the airport meant alot to her. He lived far away. The only time she saw him was when we were up in New England, in boarding school. But now it was Christmas vacation, and Ross Lambert was coming to Chicago to visit relatives. Ashley was going to lunch with him. She finally decided on her velvet green turtleneck, black miniskirt, and thick black tights with black boots. Then she ran downstairs to ask dad to drive her to the airport. Dad said the plane wouldn't arrive for 5 more hours so ask Jennifer Dilber to come over or something. I peeked in the kitchen. He and Carrie had been DATING lately, since about October. It's kinda weird, but it's kinda cool, too. If Dad was to marry anyone,I'd want it to be Carrie. They sat there sipping coffee, and talking. Every once in a while Dad or Carrie would laugh. They were so perfect together. And I swore, by the time I went back to boarding school, Carrie would be Mrs. Kevin Burke.
That night I planned about the next day. I would fix a romantic dinner for the two of them. Candles, music, the works. It was perfect by dinner time. They had a wonderful evening. They were watching a movie when dad said,
"I have a very important question to ask you, Carrie. Will you marry me?"
Well Carrie almost fell out her chair. "Well, I guess so." She finally said. So it happened. Dad put a diamond ring on her finger and on Christmas Eve we were going to have a new mother.
