he bell rang loudly at
the end of another extremely boring science lesson. Crowds of
children flooded out of the clasroom. The hall was full with
depressed children waiting for the results of their maths test
they took last week. There was one person that was not depressed
at all.
Sarah Langley was leaning against
the wall which was decorated with posters advertising the school
dance this Friday. Sarah took no notice of these posters as she
was studying this Friday and was not doing anything that night.
Her blonde pigtails were slung back over her shoulders as she
heard the call to the assembly hall to announce the results of
the test. Sarah knew she was going to win as she did every year.
She sat down on her usual chair and listened.
"The highest marks on this test were......." There
was a long silence.
" Mark Cramberry, Well done Mark. "
Sarah sat there in amazement. It was her first time she had
been beaten.
