here are four middle schoolers, age 13, from Brent Pasig who plan a trip during Easter Holiday. The two girls are named Julia and Kayla, and the boys are Brian and Jordan. They checked all of their camping gear before they departed. Kayla was happy to find a butterfly net at the camping store in Glorietta Mall before she left.
They flew to Palawan and boarded a small boat. It was a good thing that Julia received her Girl Scout badge in boating because she piloted the boat. Just before they reached an island Kayla used her net to catch a colorful butterfly. They find a volcanic island, and it is here that they come to shore to camp for a night. The island seems to be empty. Lucky for them they brought food to eat because there was no food there. After they ate, they swam and found a mysterious bottle in the sand. Brian used his old Cub Scout pocket knife to open the top. Jordan was anxious to see what was inside. The four kids pulled out an old map showing a hidden treasure inside a big statue. Using their skills they learned from Mrs Selga's Camping Skills Club, they were able to read the map. The map told them to hike two kilometers around the base of the volcano. They found the statue described on the map. The statue looked like something from the Olmecs. Jordan decided to pull down the lever inside the right ear. Suddenly, after a rumble the statue opened. The kids climbed down vines to get to the bottom of the statue. Brian did not like the skulls he found on the ground. Julia and Kayla were so brave, and they thought the skulls were clues as to how many people didn't find the treasure. After walking for 28 kilometers, they found a statue of a monkey god holding a giant pearl. The kids were excited to find the treasure at last. Sadly, they had to pass over a shark-filled pool to get across to the pearl. After the four of them swung on some vines, Kayla was able to pick up the heavy pearl weighing about 10 kilos. Attached to the pearl, Jordan read a sign which said anyone owning the pearl would have the greatest intelligence on Earth , AND the owner would be able to understand all animals. Hiking away from the monkey god, they meet three evil men with a monkey. They quickly stole the treasure from the kids. The kids were soon tied together with a strong rope. Since they all had just touched the magical pearl, they were lucky to hear the monkey sneak up to them and say, "I'll release you if you take me away from these bad men so I can go to Hollywood California to star in a Muppet Movie with Kermit and Miss Piggy". The kids quickly agreed , and the monkey gave them the golden key to escape from the statue. At the final exit door of the statue, the monkey said, "Look at the purple viper and the crocodile guarding the passageway. Maybe I'll never get to the Jim Henson Studio in Hollywood after all." Once again, the amazing brave girls said that if the monkey held the viper's neck, they would wrap the snake around the crocodile's snout so they could escape.
Once outside the hidden temple of the monkey god, they found the evil men sleeping next to the magical pearl. They quietly walked past the men who stole the magical pearl. Suddenly the volcano erupted !! The flow of lava swept the pearl down towards the beach. The monkey cried, "I've got the magic pearl. I've got the magic pearl. Hollywood, here I come!" The kids make it to their anchored boat just in time before the lava covers the whole island. With their new intelligence for upcoming mid-term exams, the kids return safely to Brent Pasig and publish their amazing story in the latest "FORWARD" magazine.
