それはとてもさむい冬のあさのことでした。エルシーが起きると、ゆきがふっていました。エルシーはうれしくなって、「ゆきがふっているよ！」と、かぞくみんなにしらせました。
エルシーの妹のメリッサは、これまでゆきを見たことがありません。それでメリッサはやねよりも体を外に出て、「お母さん、ゆき、ゆき、ゆき！」と、さけびました。
お父さんがおきてきました。お父さんは古いブーツみたいに、気むずかしい人です。お父さんは、「こらこら、子どもたち！うれしいのはわかるけど、さわぎすぎだぞ。近所の人がおこっているよ。みんながぼくたちのことを“わるい人”だって思ったらどうする？」と、いいました。
お父さんがおこっているのがわかったので、メリッサとエルシーはおふとんの下にもぐって、ねようとしました。でもちっともねむれません。メリッサとエルシーは、お父さんかお母さんに、そりでお外につれていってもらって、ゆきあそびをしたかったのです。
お母さんがおへやから出てきて、いいました。
「お父さんは体のぐあいがわるいのよ。だからごきげんがよくないの。さあさあ、しずかにしていなさい。あとでそりにのせてあげるから。」
「ヤッター！」とメリッサとエリシーはさけびました。お父さんのおこった声がまた、おへやの中から聞こえてきました。
エリシーとメリッサは、小さなこえで、クスクスとわらいました。
t was a frosty winters morning when Elsie got up. 'It's been snowing !' she exclaimed spreading the joy through her family.Her little sister, Melissa hadn't seen ANY snow before so she was over the roof. 'Mamma, snow, snow, snow,' she shouted.
Thier Dad got up, as tough as old boots and said 'Kids, I know you're excited but the neighbors are shouting, your making too much noise, emagine who they think we are, BAD PEOPLE!',
It was obvious that he was furious so Melisa and Elsie hid under their covers and tried to sleep they coudn't though, they wannted their mother or father to take them out on the sleigh for some REAL fun.
Mother came into their room.
'Father isn't feeling well, that's why he is quite moody today. It would be best if you just kept quiet. I will take you out on your sledges. '
'HORRAY!' shouted Elsie and Melissa, another shout came from their dad...
Elsie and Melissa giggled.
