校内でアナウンスが流れました。「学校選挙が今日、行われました。新しい生徒会長は、マービン・バラスキです！おめでとう、マービン」
「またマービンが、生徒会長！？」
この中学校では、不公平なことばかり。カッコいい男の子はチアリーダーのもの、コンピューターおたくだけが良い点取って、マービン・ブラスキだけが生徒会長になれるのよ。
「不公平だわ！いつもマービンばかりじゃない！」
「レスリー、どうしようもできないよ。とにかくマービンが勝ったんだから」
「でもマーク、不公平よ！みんなマービンがズルをしてるの、知ってるくせに！」
「分かってるけど、何にもできなんだよ」
「これまではね」
「レスリー、お願いだから、もうむちゃはしないでよ」
「何言ってるのよ。どうにかしなくちゃいけないわ」
「他にやる人はいないの？」
「いないわ！さあ、行くわよ」レスリーはマークのうでをつかむと、カフェテリアの横にある小部屋の前まで連れていきました。部屋のドアには、「バラスキの生徒会長室」と書かれています。レスリーはドアに耳を押し付けて、中の様子を聞こうとしました。
「レスリー、やめなよ！この中には秘密があるんだから。聞いちゃダメだよ！レスリー！」
「マーク、お願いだから、静かにしてよ。あなたのせいでつかまっちゃうじゃない。そんなことより見張りに立ってちょうだい。だれかが来たら、知らせるのよ」
レスリーは目を閉じて、真剣に耳をすませました。中では２人が言い争っています。どうやらマービンと副会長のジェニファーのようです。
「マービン、あなたズルしたんでしょう。だったら認めなさいよ！」
レスリーはマークのところへ走って行って（ええ、マークはまだ見張りに立ってたんです）、テープレコーダーを貸してくれるようたのみました。
レスリーはマービンの小部屋に戻ると、ほんの少しだけ、ドアを開けました。マービンとジェニファーは夢中で言い合っているので、全然気が付きません。レスリーは録音ボタンを押しました。マービンの告白はすべて、テープに録音されてしまいました。レスリーは停止ボタンを押すと、テープレコーダーをそっとドアの外に取り出しました。
レスリーが立ち上がったとたん、ドアがバタンと開きました。マービンとレスリーの目が一瞬あいました。レスリーはテープレコーダーを手に、かけ出しました。まっすぐに校長室に向かいます。
「レスリー、レスリー！ちょっと待ってよ！」
マークがレスリーの後を追って、ろうかをかけ出します。
「証拠がそろったのよ！」レスリーはアドレナリンをドキドキいわせて、校長室にノックもしないで、飛び込みました。校長先生がまばたきする間もなく、マービンの告白は全校に流れました。マービンのズルは、こうしてみんなにばれてしまいました。
その後に行われた公正な選挙では、レスリーが生徒会長に、それからマークが副会長に選ばれました。マービンは卒業するまで、放課後の居残りとなりました。
voice on the announcements read "The school elections were held today and the new student body president is Marvin Balaski! Congratulations Marvin."
" Grrrrr he won again!"
In this particular Middle school nothing is fair. The Cheerleaders get the guys, the computer geeks get the A's, and Marvin Balaski gets the presidentry.
"That's Not Fair! He always wins!"
"Lesley there's nothing you can do about it, he won…again."
"But Mark it's not fair! Everyone knows he cheated!"
"I know, but there's nothing we can do about it."
"Nothing until now!"
"Lesley please, no more adventures!"
"Come on it has to be done."
"Yea, but cant someone else do it?"
"No! Lets go."
Lesley garbed Mark's arm and led him to a small room next to the cafeteria. On the door a sign read BALASKI FOR PRESIDENT HEADQUARTERS Lesley carefully pressed her ear against the door and listened.
"Lesley! You can't do that! That's secret stuff in there and you, you, you can't listen in!"
"Mark would you please be quiet your going to get me caught. Make yourself useful stand guard, if anyone is coming let me know."
Lesley closed her eyes to try to listen more carefully. Inside she heard two people arguing. It was Marvin and the Vice President, Jennifer.
"Marvin you know you cheated just admit it!"
Lesley quickly ran up to Mark (who was still standing guard) and asked for his tape recorder. She ran back to the door and opened it a crack. Marvin and Jennifer were to busy arguing to notice. Lesley pressed the Record button. Marvin's whole confession was caught on tape. Lesley pressed the stop button and slid the recorder out from inside the door.
As Lesley was standing up the door swung open! Marvin and Lesley's eyes locked for a split second. Lesley ran down the hall tape recorder in hand. She went right into the office.
"Lesley, Lesley! Come back! Wait for me!"
Mark ran down the hall after her.
"Now I have proof!"
Adrenaline still pumping she barged into the principals' office and before the principal could blink, Marvin's confession was playing over the announcements. Marvin was caught!
In the end Lesley was rightfully elected student body president, Mark was elected vice president, and Marvin will be serving detention until he graduates.
