Lily stormed out of the gym, "Why can't you understand? I know that you don't really care, but at least you could try!""Come on! You know I want to listen, but all you keep doing is pacing around. Can't we finish this basketball game first?" Lily's friend Jazmine called after her.
"Sports, sports, sports! That's all I ever hear about. If you want to talk sports, talk to someone else. I'm leaving!"
"Fine. I'll talk to Frank."
"Yeah, go talk to your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend!"
"That's what they all say."
Lily trudged up the stairs to her locker. She wanted to go back to the gym, but how could she after what she'd just said? "How could I have been so dumb?" Lily muttered as she reached the fourth floor. She opened her locker with ease and looked at her textbooks. "Science... English... Math... Global... Nope, don't need any." She slammed her locker shut.
"Hi, Lily! What's up?" Ann shouted from the other end of the hallway.
"The sky." Lily answered sarcastically as she jogged towards Ann.
"Man, you must be down. You never say that. Tell me what's on your mind."
"It's nothing, really. You wouldn't understand."
"I don't believe you. You are staying right there until you tell me."
"Okay, okay. I'll tell you."
"I'm listening."
"Jaz and I had a fight. I told you it was nothing."
"How can you call that nothing? You two have been like black and white on a zebra ever since you met in third grade."
"I know. I think that it's time to take a step away and get new friends."
"Oh, well, I guess I can't help you much there. It has to be your own decision on who you are friends with."
"I wish you could. Thanks anyway."
"See you tomorrow!"
"Bye."
Lily walked down the stairs, hoping that she wouldn't meet anyone on her way out. But, she did.
"Hi Lily." It was Frank.
"Oh, hi, Frank. Jazmine was looking for you. Bye! See you tomorrow."
Lily turned around and jogged out of school. She was glad it was raining so nobody could tell she was crying.
