「とってもドキドキしているの。ぜったいにできないわ」
「デビー、おちついて！きっとじょうずにできるわよ」
これはわたし。９才のおんなの子のわたしは、はじめてのサーカスで、２番目のえんぎに出ようとしています。わたしはたいそうをします。お父さんは、「トラつかい」です。わたしはトラといっしょにえんぎをするのです。トラの名前は「ティミー」といって、とてもきれいな動物です。わたしはティミーが大すきです。ティミーは生まれて６ヵ月くらいで、とってもおくびょうです。
とつぜん、スピーカーがなりました。「第１えんぎ！」スピーカーが「第２えんぎ！」とさけんだとき、わたしはちょうどコスチュームをつけたところでした。
お父さんとわたしはティミーをむかえに行きました。わたしたちはオリに近づくと、ゾッとしてオリを見つめました。「だれかがトラのオリをあけっぱなしにしているぞ！」
わたしたちは真っ青になって、きょうぎ場に向かいました。歩いていると、とちゅうで黒とオレンジの色がパッと見えました。
わたしはティミーのかくれているところが分かったので、ティミーの名前を呼びました。するとティミーがやってきました。

Well here I am, a 9 year old girl getting ready for my first circus and in the second act too. I am doing gimnastics. My Dad is the "tiger tamer" so I have to do an act with the tiger. The tigers name is "Timmy" he is a beautiful animal and I love him. Timmy is about 6 months old and he is very timid.
All of a sudden the speaker shouted "Act one!" Luckily I had just finished putting my costume on when the speaker shreaked "Act two!"
Dad and I had to get Timmy. When we got to the cage, we both stared in horror. "Oh! No! Someone left the tiger's cage open!
We went unhappily to the ring. As we were walking I saw a flash of black and orange.
Now I knew where he was hiding so I called him and he came.
