Samantha's "The christmas gift of a Lifetime"

In this story, is "Teddie", is "strawberry cake",
is "Christmas gifts", is "shovel and wheelbarrow", and is "suprise!".

"Samantha, wake up! Samantha!!!"

My foster sister Amanda, who was only 5, was shaking me awake and kind of hopping on my bed in an excited sort of way. I rolled over and buried myself under my warm, hand knitted quilt. I felt like a bug in a rug, compared to the freezing ice and snow outside my bedroom window.

"But Samantha! You have to get up!" Amanda whined.

"Amanda, if you had a bad dream tell mom, and if you need some water go get it yourself," I grumbled and crawled deeper under my covers.

"But Samantha, it's Christmas!!!"Amanda said with an impatient tone in her voice that mom sometimes gets.

At the sound of Christmas I sat up so fast that my quilt flew across the room and landed on my brearu drawer.

"It's CHRISTMAS!" I squealed!

I grabbed Amanda's hand and we ran to the living room. We saw our tree, aglow with shimering lights and boxes of all shapes and sizes beneath it. There was a christmas gift wrapped in blue for me, red for Amanda, and green for mom at the very front.

Then, mom came in and said, "Well, looks like I've had some very good girls this year!"

We giggled and began opening presents. It was great fun. Mom got a wheelbarrow and shovel from her beau for her job, Amanda's best gift was from me and was a silk teddybear with a red satin ribbon . "I'll call him !" Amanda said as soon as she grabbed him out of the box.

Then, we opened all of the but one. It was an oddly shaped box and something was making noise on the inside. There were little holes all over it, too, and it looked like Swiss cheeze. It was very large. I opened the box. Inside was another box with "surprise " written all over it. Inside it was another one and inside that was another one!

Finally i came to the last box. I opened it and out sprang a calico kitten! "!!!!!" mom and Amanda yelled!

The kitten was so cute! It ran around and did not know where anything was and stepped in my i made for dinner. But i did not care, because it was mine!

"Oh mom!"I gushed later on," It's....it's ...... It is the Christmas gift of a lifetime!"
